Of course not, I heard breathing them in is poisonous and bad for the baby. This lady told me this and I was just curious if she was crazy because I use both.
I think that breathing chemically-scented air is probably bad for everyone to a degree. I wouldn't worry about a scented candle once in a while, but constant breathing of air fresheners might not be all that great.
My house is one giant Scentsy bomb. (pets and a potty training toddler... what are you going to do?) I'm not concerned and I'm positive my OB would laugh at me if I asked.
However, plugins are a ridiculous fire hazard.

Some random person told you? Not your doctor or legit pg book? One thing you'll quickly learn is that everyone and their mother has old wives' tales, opinions, and stories about pregnancy and you have to be able to weed out the BS fast or else you'll go crazy.
In all seriousness, there are toxins in most candles and air fresheners that we shouldn't be breathing in regardless of pregnancy but I wouldn't stress yourself out about it. If it worries you, buy soy based non-metal wicked candles. They are sold at nearly all stores and cost only a bit more. Soy based candles burn faster, and the scents aren't as strong but they are much healthier and they still have that ambiance. I love candles, and generally buy both kinds, but my favorite are the Harry & David candles which just smell SO DELICIOUS! I open windows after burning them to let fresh air into the room and I only burn them for an hour or two.
I think this is a good, honest question. These things really aren't very good for you but I don't think you need to worry about it unless you have a ton of them around your house.
I am a parrot owner and when we decided to adopt we had to get rid of all scented candles and oil diffusers, and not to mention non-stick pans. The fumes from these things are extremely poisonous to birds and can kill them very quickly. Remember how miners used to send canaries into mines before going in to test for poisonous gases? If the canary died it meant that it wasn't safe for humans to enter. Well, that was a pretty smart trick and I can say I have felt much safer after getting rid of these things in my home after learning how poisons they are to our feathered friends.
If you are worried about it try purchasing only natural wax candles with essential oils instead of the more chemical based ones.
"In a study completed by National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the 2006 results found that air fresheners may include 1,4 dichlorobenzene (1,4 DCB), which can affect lung functionality. The volatile organic compound (VOC) is also found in pesticides, paints, cleaning products and tobacco smoke. Products that affect breathing are especially dangerous for someone who has asthma."

I don't think they make them anymore, but gel candles (popular ~ten years ago?) had all sorts of toxins. Just follow general common sense: use scents in a well ventilated area. I'd only worry about it if you're in a small room and all the doors and windows are shut (maybe go easy on candles during baths?)

My house too, Scentsy is better though because it doesn't burn the wax, so at least you're not inhaling soot (okaaay, I'm a consultant haha). I'm not worried about scents and I still love scentsying up my house even with my super sensitive nose.
I have Scentsy warmers all over my house and as far as I know, there are no problems linked to any scented product and birth defects, etc. Now chemical fumes from household cleaners, atuomobiles, etc....BAD. But those are bad for just about anybody.
Considering that you can paint safely while PG, I think these are fine. Just like PP said, don't stand there and inhale it just in case. Just like I was sure standing in front of the microwave probably wouldn't hurt baby... but just as a precaution I never stood directly in front of it for long periods of time

Lol. I don't think I'd sleep with one next to my bed but I doubt they're dangerous if you have one in your kitchen/living room.
