Eff I'm so COLD!

I am really debating whether or not to bust out my electric blanket.   I know it's a no-no while PG, but I dont know how much longer I can stand the cold!  I have no insulation and crappy windows, so my house doesn't hold in heat at all.

If I turn it on low, I'm sure it would be ok, right?!  Help me justify this!

Re: Eff I'm so COLD!

  • Yes, its a no-no. I'm still using it. I have it on my bed almost all year. I try to keep it on low, and normally I turn it off before I go to sleep if I remember. I can let you know in about 6 months if I have a normal baby or not. I'm sorry, but its one thing I cannot live without.

I don't care if everyone else thinks this is terrible. I know I'm not supposed to but I am aware of the risks and I have decided to take that chance. I don't blame anyone else for erring on the side of caution and doing the "right" thing, but I'm just different.

  • I say go for it. Just keep it fairly low. You gotta do what you gotta do. :)

  • Yeah, I am going for it.  DH is OOT, so at least I wont get lectured until he gets home :P

It's warming up as we speak and CAN'T WAIT to climb in my nice warm bed!

  • No wonder you're so cold!!! I think if DH is OOT, then you have a great excuse to pull out the blanket. If my husband wasn't in the bed, I would be SOL for any radiating heat from his side of the bed!

  • That sounds cozy :) I'm jealous.

  • I don't have a heating blanket, but if I did I would definitely want to use it. We have flannel sheets and a down comforter, and I usually take a hot shower before bed so I stay pretty warm that way. Enjoy a warm nights sleep!
  • We have a heated mattress pad, rather than a blanket, and we just use it to preheat the bed.  If we leave it on, we get too hot with the down comforter.  But it's sooooooo nice to have the bed prewarmed.

I turn it off before I go to sleep.  I did the same with our electric blanket with the last PG (before it died).

  • I use mine every single night.  I only put it on Low for about an hour though until I'm warm, then I turn it off.

  • Use it!  Get warm and cozy and then shut it off for the night.
  • I  thought the electric blanket was only a no-no if you fell asleep with it on... or if you had it on for a really long period of time while you were just chilling underneath it.  What's wrong with using it to heat up your bed a little bit before getting in?
