Whenever I do crunches or modifications my lower back KILLS.
I'm doing 30 day shred level 2 now, and I have to stop during most of the ab circuits because of the back pain.
I try to keep my belly button pulled to the ground, but I'm not sure if there is something I am doing wrong or... I don't know. I have always had this issue, even when I was VERY fit.
Help!

Oh my gosh STOP immediately if you are still trying to do them. It sounds like you have diastasis recti. You can check for this very easily, just type it in your browser window and you will find out how. Doing crunches/sit ups etc will only make it worse.
