Am I that crazy patient every doctor hates?

Morning Ladies,

Today, I was heading to work, but decided to run into a deli really quickly to get money out of the ATM (I live in NYC). I didn't want to miss the bus so I kind of did a wee jog for a minute and then walked quickly to get into the deli.  When I did that, I noticed immediate pressure in my vagina, like the baby's head was pushing down (I know his head is already engaged; however last week I was still not dilated)

I got on the bus and felt a LITTLE wet in my panties and had some minor discomfort so I decided to get off the bus and walk back home.

Once home, I noticed some wetness in my underwear, nothing to soak through to my pants but definitely noticeable.  I'm having VERY mild cramping and pressure.  So, I called my doctor and he said to come in for a quick check, but I feel really bad.  I don't want to be over-reacting.  It could be just discharge and then the 'jogging' which I'm not used to could have just not set well with my muscles OR it could be that I did something more.  I want to be safe and sound, but I do feel so guilty if I go into the office and it's nothing.

What do you think?

  • 1. doctors generally dont hate their patients.

    2. dont feel bad for making them do their job. you are keeping them in business.

    3. feel better soon.

Don't feel guilty, it's always better to be safe than sorry! We thought my water broke a couple nights ago and when we went into triage, they said it hadn't. But they also said that if we think it happens again, put a pad on and if it's really wet in half an hour, then call the doc. Other than that, I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about. But remember, they're used to getting crazy calls, so one like that that's legit is no big deal.

  • I want your doctor. I had bad cramping all day yesterday and they told me it's "probably" normal. No advice (like drink water, rest, etc). Just if it gets worse, to call.

This is what Docs get paid to do. My Doc said any kind of new pressure to go in.

  • I've heard multiple nurses/doctors I've talked to say that they would much rather a woman call them about something that turns out to be nothing (even if they call for a bunch of "nothings") than have any woman think she's being a "bother" and then have to deal with a devastated mother with a dead baby because "she didn't want to be annoying or seen as overreacting". It's really hard for the medical staff to have to be involved in such tragic cases too, especially when it could have been prevented with a call and a visit.

If it's enough to make you have pause for concern, it's enough to call --- if for nothing else than your peace of mind.

This actually happened to my oldest sister.  She kept calling in to the doctor and telling them she couldn't feel the baby move.  They blew her off for about a week (she was young and just did what they told her), and by the time she went to the emergency room, it was too late.  That d-bag doctor wouldn't even come in off the golf course to deliver her baby!

I don't say that to scare you, but to say don't worry about bothering them...you're doing the right thing!
