April 2012 Moms

Anyone want a 3 year old?! Ugh, about to kill him today.

He is driving me up.the.wall.  Gawd, the baby is so easy in comparison.  He's happy, he smiles, he doesn't talk back.  My 3yr old is so high maintenance it's not funny.  He argues and contradicts everything I say, every question is But Mummy, WHY?!  The answer to everything is Nooooo.  I'm trying really hard to remember all his good qualities but seriously, God Grant me Patience.

Everyone says 3 is harder than 2, and yes, I have to agree.  The tantrums are epic at 3.  Tantrums at 2 were a piece of cake compared to this.

I've let him have the ipad WAY too much today.  Oh well, there are lots of quasi-educational activities on there.. right?!

ETA: Oh, his one redeeming quality is that he still naps 2-3 hrs a day.  Most of his friends have given up.  I suppose he needs that time to recharge from harrassing me all morning! lol

  • If the iPad brings you peace, let him play with it, lol. You deserve the break, and it certainly won't kill him to play some "quasi-educational" games.

    Momma needs breaks too.

  • I can relate! DD turns 3 tomorrow and the past couple months she is so defiant and whiney. Some days are better then others, but on the bad days she definitely uses the iPad or watches TV more. Whatever gets us through the day!
  • I feel the same way about my DS sometimes (even the letting him play on my tablet too much some days). He will be 3 in July, but he's acting like it now. I just hope I don't go crazy driving back home (2 8+ hour days in the car/at rest stops) with him next week.

I often repeat the mantra "I love my son, I love my son, I love my son." Thanks for that fabulous glimpse into my future!

  • DD has just started hitting this week, I'm oh so excited. I think she watched 4 episodes of Mickey yesterday just because I didn't want to argue, ugh. Some days I can't wait until 1 because she sleeps 3 1/2 hours and then DH is home shortly after. I'll cry the day the naps end.

  • My older son was a complete dream until he turned 3,5.....and wow! Defiant, emotional, talks back, now has a mean face an no punishments phase him ( we are anti hitting). At bedtime he reallllly pushes our buttons and at school he is way too silly. Ugh..... I've heard they are much better at 4. 5 more months!!

  • I could have written this post myself! My favorite thing (sarcasm) about my 3 yo is when she purposely wakes the baby from her nap by stomping around or singing loudly. 3 is definitely harder than 2!

  • DD1 is definitely pushing it lately.  I even posted about it a couple days ago.  I am trying to change my attitude and approach.  I am trying to be calmer and not get so mad so easily.  I am trying to be more positive.  I even got some of those decorative stones you normally put into vases and we made a good girl jar.  She gets to pick one out and put it in her jar everytime she does something good.  When it is full she will get a special prize ( I am thinking something from the Target dollar spot).  We also went to Michaels and bought a bunch of craft stuff ti keep her from getting bored.  I am really hoping this works!
