We had our a/s yesterday. The ultrasound tech took a long time looking at the heart and decided that she couldn't get a good picture of the septum separating the sides of the heart. She thinks LO might have a ventricular septal defect, a hole in the septum separating LO's left and right ventricle. We're being sent for a fetal echocardiogram in a few weeks (the doctor said they do those around 23-24 weeks).
The doctor and nurse didn't seem too concerned. DH checked Dr. Google, which ended up being comforting for once. He found that sometimes they go away on their own, and in bad cases LO would need surgery right after birth. The nurse we talked to has a little girl that was born with heart problems, and she said that the surgery for a VSD is usually minimally invasive and only takes a few minutes. If it's bad enough we'll have to deliver at a different hospital so that there will be a specialist present.
Obviously it isn't something that we wanted to hear, but we're staying optimistic. It seems like even if there is a problem, there are options to keep LO healthy. I got a little teary on the way home, and LO gave me a nice strong kick to tell me to get over it, haha.
On a more positive note, we did find out that we're having a little boy! The ultrasound tech got a really good picture of his goods. We are so excited! We already had a boy name picked out, so it's a relief to be done with the great name debate.
I'll update more when we have our echo, but until then DH and I would be incredibly grateful if you could keep our sweet little boy in your prayers.
Thanks for listening, ladies.

I remembered someone else needed an echo, but I couldn't remember who or for what. Thanks for the encouragement, and good luck with your echo!
T&Ps going up for LO's heart; but thank goodness for modern medical technology!
And congrats on team blue!
This is so good to know! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so so much for all of the comments. They really do mean a lot. This is such a supportive board and it's so comforting during a hard time.
I just got a call from the doctor's office that they scheduled our echocardiogram for June 27. That's earlier than I thought it would be, which is a bit of a relief. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again for all of the support!
