BabyHawk Mei Tai

I hope you ladies wouldn't mind answering a question from a baby wearing newbie!

I never wore DD1.  When I was pregnant with DD2 I decided I wanted to give it a try so I bought a Moby.  I have worn DD2 in the Moby quite a bit and I really like it.  I actually can't imagine doing things like taking two kids to the store or park without it!  DD2 is about 17lbs, and I just don't feel like the Moby gives me the support I would like anymore.  So I am looking into getting a different carrier that I can use for a long time and that I can do a back carry with.  I am hesitant to spend a lot of money on a carrier since I don't use it all the time.  I was thinking a Mei Tai since they are a little less expensive but seem fairly versatile.

Is the BabyHawk Mei Tai difficult to tie?  I feel like I am not to scared of this since I found the Moby relatively easy to figure out how to wrap.  Anything else I should consider?  Would you recommend this carrier or something completely different?

I would appreciate any and all advice.  Thank you in advance!

  • The Babyhawk is a dream to tie, plus the fabrics are super cute.

However, if you found the Moby easy to negotiate, you might want to consider a woven. You would get more versatility from a wrap.  I suck at wrapping, which is why I adore my BH.

  • I can't say anything bad about wraps, but I do love my BH.  And it's really easy to tie.  DH won't wear it since he thinks the fabric I got is too "girly"  (It's brown, blue, and green!) but he's always jealous that it takes me less time to throw it on than it takes for him to strap in to one of our SSCs.

  • I adore mine!  I customized it with a girly fabric and pocket on the outside for me to wear, and a more neutral fabric on the inside panel for DH to wear.  It is super easy to tie, even DH is comfortable tying and carrying her independently.  It is much easier than the Moby IMO.  I would recommend getting it with the pocket - but I rarely have roomy pockets.

  • I really like mine, I bought it when LO was a little older and didn't use it much, but plan to use it a lot more with future LOs. I bought it used off the Babywearing swap on babycenter. It looks like it was never used.

  • I love my BH!  It's super easy to tie.  I don't really wear DS anymore, but I'm looking forward to using it again with this LO due in September.  I would highly recommend it.  :)
