i've discussed this on other boards but haven't seen a post here.
anyway, if they safe zone again i may throw something at the TV. holy crap, at least 20 times an episode. if i was a drinker it would be a fun drinking game.
and some girls on other boards have been speculating that their GC is pregnant with twins. this never occurred to me. they seem to have stressed that only 1 took (i guess id twins could have happened) but all the u/s i've seen have shown 1 baby. they also have have said several times how grateful they are to be expecting 1 baby and how they never thought it would happen.
they have said from the beginning they are keeping the gender a secret but keeping a whole second baby a secret, that seems crazy.
anyway, your thoughts?
Re: G&B watchers
I was also super annoyed every time they said safe zone. I have seen too many losses after 12 weeks, plus I was 10, so it's like bragging they made it to 12 and I can't.
I think there is only 1 and that's why she really wanted to stim again, but I think they froze embies and she said eggs, which also made me mad.
It's their right to keep the gender secret. They did right? Ours cut off right as it looked like they were going to say.

I know they do freeze eggs, but earlier in the show she was telling him that he had to do his job as well, and he was going on and on about his super guys. Only reason I think she was wrong/confused.

Ugh, thank you! I was staying away from all G&B posts but finally watched it last night. Holy crap with the whole safe zone thing! I've seen far too much on here to believe there is a safe zone whatsoever. I get that it decreases after first tri, and obviously after 24w then you have a shot, but still there is no guarantee until you hold that baby in your arms. And even then we've seen babies here lost to SIDS or infections, etc. That was really ticking me off, but yes, it would have made an excellent drinking game, lol!
The thought did cross my mind about the twins, but I would be super shocked if that was true. I really don't think they would keep that a secret. And I think that the fact that they're having 1 is what pushed them to bank her eggs too.
I was really annoyed that they made a big deal about announcing what the baby is... and I was excited to see, and then they cut to black and tell you to watch at a later date? What crap!
maybe they did fertilize eggs, i do recall Bill saying something about his swimmers but since they shared how many embies they had frozen last time i assumed they would again.

seriously! i kept telling D, first tri isn't over until mid 13w so if you just wanted to say something like we are waiting until we're out of first tri because chance of m/s goes down that's one thing but to keep stressing 12w and a safe zone, UGH!

I like them, I do - but the incorrect terminology drives me batty. (i.e. surrogate vs gestation carrier, eggs vs embryos) I'd think I was being nit picky, but she's gone through how many egg retrievals (I think it's 3 or 4) wouldn't you have picked up on some of the terms?
When they first said they were pregnant I thought maybe it was twins, but not so much anymore. I think the tune in later in the month note was annoying. If they were really "guessing" at 12 weeks (although I wonder if the episode was pieced together with a later ultrasound), I'm thinking it has to be a boy.

Raises hand for being annoyed with "safe zone". I've never even been PG and I still don't think there is such a thing as a "safe zone" after what I've seen with some of the bump girls.
I don't think there is a 2nd baby in the GC. They are revealing gender on 6/17. Whatever. Ratings I guess.
She did another ER to get the last round of eggs before she starts tamoxifen. I'm surprised they let her stim again since her cancer was estrogen positive but I guess 10 days of drugs isn't that much in the scheme of life when they just cut out the cancer and had clear margins. I would bet money that they fertilized the eggs and are then banking the embryos-- banking eggs is just too risky and would make no sense when you have Bill's sperm available. If it was a single woman who was trying to preserve some fertility upon a cancer DX but had no partner, it would make more sense to freeze eggs versus using donor sperm.
I also would bet money that they will use another GC to carry another baby in the future. She isn't going to wait 5 yrs to try to carry herself.

That's true about the eggs vs embryos, though I know there has been success with freezing just eggs it is lower. I would have thought they would have told us that info like they did before though. I was surprised after he stressed not getting pregnant b/c the tumor was estrogen positive that they let her stim, but apparently they approved it. I definitely think they will go with a GC for a potential future pregnancy though b/c didn't they say she has to be on the tamoxifen for 5 years and then they want her to wait another 5 years after it before getting pregnant, so that would put her 10 years out making her 47 I think.

I agree with you about the terminology. Sometimes they act so knowledgeable in telling other people what a GC vs. surrogate is and I'm proud of them... then others, not so much.
I wondered if that u/s was at 12w or not... it seems odd that they would be sure enough to tell at that point. At our NT scan at 12w our technician told us she was 95% sure we were having a girl, and we were, but we kept that information to ourselves until we got it confirmed after our anatomy scan. But it is possible to tell that it is a girl that early too apparently. When we told people that we had a guess as to the sex, everyone assumed it was a boy because they figured it's easier to see *something* than a not-something... but I think it just depends on how skilled the tech is.
Safe Zone=
I was surprised they could tell the sex already but I was wondering if it was a few different appts edited into one. I don't think it is twins...

The safe zone thing really annoyed me too especially since I just m/c at 11 weeks. I guess if I had made it 1 more week I would of been "safe"
I never thought about twins. I feel like they've stressed one baby as well. Plus, a few episodes back she was looking online at strollers and none of them were for 2. Just my observation. I guess we'll see.

I think there is only one...If there were two I think they wouldn't have made such a big deal about banking more embies before she started her meds.
The "safe zone" comments totally annoyed me and DH. But I try to look at from their point of view and for a single pregnancy after 12/13 is statistically pretty safe. I am just sad to be one of the people who fall on the crappy side of the statistics and know too many other women who have as well.
What annoyed me, is who could the sonographer be so damn confident of the sex at 12 weeks???? Even at my 16 week scan last time they were wrong with one of mine. I know CCRM does testing on many of their embroyos. My good IRL knew her twins were B/G because they had done the testing there and if that is the case that is fine, I just don't want people running out and getting elective u/s at 12 weeks because they think everyone can tell by then.
Plus, I thought it was cool they were keeping the gender a secret and now I am annoyed they are making it this big t.v. event.
I still like them but def. get annoyed sometimes...
