I am super excited as we now have the date and time of our c-section scheduled (august 6 and noon). My question is this-how many of you actually had your surgeries done at the scheduled time versus having to wait even longer? I am planning on telling family to come after DH and I have time in recovery for a while as a new little family...so planning isnt necessarily a concern of mine-I am just curious. Thanks ladies!
Re: Silly Question...
My c/s was unplanned so it was a little different in that people didn't know it was happening. But we waited to call anyone until 3 hours after DS was born to ensure that we were not bombarded with people (we are related to many people who overstep boundaries and would have come to the hospital against our wishes had they known I was going into surgery). As it was, DS was born after visiting hours anyway, so everyone had to wait for the morning.
My recovery wasn't textbook. It took over 1.5 hours before I was cleared to leave the recovery room. So, it took a bit before I was able to settle into my room with my new baby.
I was scheduled in the morning for a 5 pm start. We were delayed until 6 due to an emergecy situation. We'd been warned to expect delays, since they have 2 ORs and try to keep one empty at all time for walk in emergencies.
My c-section was scheduled for 1pm and E was born at 1:40pm. We were a little delayed, but only 10-15 min. If an emergency situation was happening, we would be more delayed...you just never know.
I wanted my family close by (my first surgery and I wanted my mom/sister for breastfeeding issues) so my family was there the entire time, we actually saw them when we first went back to L&D. The in laws came later that night, well after we were back in our room from recovery.
My first got bumped because there was an emergency c-section right before me. My second and third were around the time that I was scheduled........
This is a great question I wish I thought to ask.
My c/s was the first scheduled, and I was to go in at 9:00. However, due to emergency c/s and my dr. delivering other babies, I didn't even go in until noon! We even have a huge hospital dedicated to women & birth, so I would have never expected it to happen.
