Two Under 2

Cribs/Beds

LO will be 19 months when this baby arrives. Right now we have a traditional crib in her room. We plan on moving her to a bigger room & getting her new furniture. I'm torn on getting another tranditional crib or a convertible. Ideally we would only want her to be in a twin when she's older since there is a really good chance we will have 2 in that room before we move out.

What did you do for your LO's that were around 19 months?

Re: Cribs/Beds

  • I am in the same boat.  Mine will be 2 right before my scheduled csection.  I want to have a baby room ready for the next but torn on whether to do a fun toddler room for my 1st or keep him in the crib and get another convertible.

We have a second convertible. We had planned on buying one but ended up being given this one by a new friend who is done having children.
  • Mine are 19.5 months apart and we have 2 convertible cribs.  DS1 is in a twin bed now, though.  We switched him at 27 months because I got a good deal on the twin bed, and I knew I was pregnant, so now we have a twin + 2 convertible cribs.

  • We are purchasing a 2nd convertible. If he is ready to be in a toddler bed by the time this one arrives fine, if not we will be fine too. I believe there are some convertibles that convert to a daybed which would be a Twin.

Mine will be 17 months apart.

  • Well, we moved DS to a queen bed at 15 months because that's the bed we already had in the 3rd bedroom.  I'm very frugal, so I did not want to buy another crib or a different size bed (i.e. toddler bed or twin) if I didn't have to.  He was great in the crib, but he's still been just fine in the queen.  Our two will be 18.5 months apart.

  • If this pregnancy works out (first doctors apt today) DD will be 19 months when #2 arrives. The two will share a bed, we already have a double in DD's room so I'm going to get a bed rail for her and put her in the double, the new baby'll get DD's crib.

my son will be 19 months old too and is a climber so we moved him to a twin a month ago when we moved into our new house.  he slept like a dream in it from day one.  we set up his crib in his new room too but he wanted nothing to do with it so now it is set up in the nursery.

This would be exactly what I want. I'd love to just put her in a twin with rails. Do you have any issue with DS climbing out in the middle of the night?
