Just curious. I let DD eat as much as she wants but try and limit the amount of certain foods. The big ones are pita and hummus and pasta. She could probably eat her weight in either of these. I try and give them last so she eats the rest of the meal (which she usually does). Just curious. I'll usually give her half a pita (in bites) and she'll eat most of that. Pasta I usually give her around 1/4 - 1/2 cup serving. If she wants more food after that I'll give her more veggies or fruits.
Re: Do you limit the amount of food LO eats?
I wish I had this problem. B just eats a few bites here and there and still loves his breast milk.
I am soooo sick of EPing, this boy needs to eat more. He only eats toast, pasta, fruit, squash and sweet potatoes. Nothing green and no meats =(
Of course his iron was low at his 1 yr apt, so now I am trying to really get him to eat more food with iron in it. Boo.
I do think if I was in your situation, I would do exactly what you are doing. Be happy you have a good eater
I don't limit necessarily, but I do the same as you. I offer veggies first, then fruit, then pasta/bread/cheese. I usually wait until the end of the meal to give her the sippy cup, too. Or, if I feel like she is thirsty I give it to her for a sip and then set it on the counter until she is closer to done.
Sometimes I let her eat and eat and eat, then sometimes I feel like she has had enough and consider the meal done and give her the sippy cup.
I was thinking of asking a question similar to this. I just throw pretty much everything on her tray and let her go to it, so I was wondering if people gave veggies first or what have you.
In general, I let her as much as she wants. She rarely gets sweets, but if I give her a few tastes of my ice cream, for example, I do limit that.
This. Then I will give puffs last. If LO still want smore after that then I cut him off.
I give her everything at once since she's still mostly eating all of it. but if she eats all teh fruit and bread and asks for more she just gets more chicken/veggies.
I think I am giving her too much food at once. I am trying to get her to sign or say "more" but I don't think she's motivated to because she has such a big serving to start with, lol!
