NBR- CHI hair straightener? Or other?

Anyone have this? I found it at a good price on amazon but some of the reviews said it craps out quickly and it doesn't have a warranty unless it is bought in a salon. I have really curly frizzy hair so I need a really high quality straightener. Anyone have the Chi or other brand they love and can recommend? Thanks!?

  • i LOVE my CHI!!  had it for almost 2 years and still works like it's new

  • mfg- which one do you have? I'm trying to chose between the 1 inch, 1inch turbo, and 2 inch turbo. I have long hair so I'm leaning towards the 2 inch, hopefully it will save me some time?
  • I love my CHI and have had it for several years. ?I finally sucked it up and bought one b/c I'd gone through 3 cheapo ones that kept crapping out. ?If you factor in what I spent on the first 3, I should have just bought the CHI in the first place! ?My mom bought one too after trying mine.
  • i have the 1" nano -- if i had to buy one again, i wouldn't pay extra for the nano and just get the regular. i have hair down to the middle of my back - it does take some time to straighten, but i dont think i could go that much faster w/ a 2"

I like the 1" because you can also use it to curl (i can never figure this out, but my friend who is a stylist can do some neat things with it.)

  • I love my CHI...I've had it for a little over a year and it still works like its new! I have the 1" one. I found this one easier to use (I had a 2" one before). I like how you can get closer to your roots with the 1" and also get small layers better. HTH.

  • I've had a CHI for almost 3 years and it's probably one of the best things I've ever done for myself. heheh

  • I would NOT know what to do with my life if i didn't have my CHI straightener
  • I have it, but I would recommend sucking up the extra money and buying it in a salon. A few years ago I had a power surge and it got zapped, and the warranty replaced it with no problems.
  • I've had my CHI for about 4yrs, use it almost daily, and drop it on our tile bathroom floor a lot....i'm a clutz. It still works like new. I think it does a much better job at straightening than other straighteners I've used. And I feel like it doesn't damage my hair as much (other straighteners I've used in the past would make my hair very dry with lots of split ends if using it daily and for some unknown reason, this one doesn't).  I know its a lot of money but I really think it's worth it if you're going to be using it a lot.
  • I have a 1 inch CHI. I got in on Ebay, brand new just a week ago for only $69! I even bid on one for my brother to give to SIL and she loves it! Definitely worth the money! I have naturally wavy/curly hair and recently cut it into a bob and straighten it all the time and it works wonders! PM me if you want the name of the seller I purchased from, really reliable, I was pleased!
  • Just lurking from 3rd tri and thought I would chime in. I was always a chi person until mine broke...I bought another one and the same thing broke. I then bought a sedu and I will never go back. I am in love with my sedu. I really think its a superior flat iron. Folica.com usually has a good deal on them. HIghly highly recomend!
  • I have an F.H.I. that I bought at a salon about 3-4 yrs ago and it is still going strong. I works extremely well on my extremely thick hair.  I had a Chi prior to this one but it only lasted a year before it quit working
