WCM Causing Vomiting

First thing in the morning for the past 3 days has been crazy, Exorcist-worthy, along with a bit more spit up throughout the day.  He doesn't seem to have any issues later in the day, or if it's mixed with formula and frozen BM.  Anyone else?

I was looking forward to not having to buy more formula, but given that 2 days ago I had to wash his crib sheet, yesterday I had to wash our duvet cover, and today I have to wash our sheets and mattress cover...formula for life seems like an easier option!

Re: WCM Causing Vomiting

  • No vomitting that is specifically caused by WCM, but she has definitely been a gassy little thing since we started transitioning last week.

  • I would call your pedi. WCM caused our LO constipation for a few days but it's subsided now.

  • There seems to be a ton of info on it when I Googled, much from older posts on TB or other similar message boards for same-aged LOs.

We see our Dr in a week and a half for his 12 month visit.  He's not in any discomfort once he finishes puking...in fact he starts laughing like he's the funniest thing ever, "Hey, look Mama, even YOU have it all over you, ha ha ha!"

Based on the stuff on Google from other moms, I think I will back off on the WCM until our appt. and then maybe try a lactose-free one, or WCM alternatives, or just continue mixing it with toddler formula for a bit.  There were a few things that referenced 2% milk being easier to digest, which is interesting as until the last month or two I had only heard that babies needed WCM, and now some Drs seem to be a bit more flexible (I know someone has referenced this and posted an article recently here).

  • We haven't had vomiting, but we've had major constipation issues since we started transitioning. We backed off, and now we're doing 2oz WCM + 6oz formula for each bottle, but he's still constipated. Not sure what to do.

  • DD has been spitting up more now that she's on WCM (she just started 100% WCM in the last couple of days), which is a little strange.  I'm hoping her system will get adjusted and it won't bother her so much in a week or two.

  • It might be a slight intolerance to it. I would try Hemp or Almond Milk.

  • If it is only in the morning, it might be due to being drank on an empty/acidic stomach.  Can you offer water and something starchy like toast or cheerios before the bottle?
