recommend your fave children's book

I have my good friend's baby shower to go to and I  have to bring a book. I know there are tons of great books to give but please help me narrow down. What are your favorite book(s) to give or get?

    My two faves to read to DS are:

    I Love You More by Laura Duksta

     and

    I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak and Caroline Jayne Church

    Are You My Mother is the favorite of all time over here, when he is flipping his lid during a diaper change i just recite it by heart and he stares at me lol. If the book is within reach he will throw it at my chest for me to read. he's obsessed!

    I had a book baby shower and the only book I received twice was "Love you forever"  it is the one with the line "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be." 

    Others I got that I remember and like:

    Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

    Curious George

    The very hungry Caterpillar

    If you Give a moose a Muffin. 

    Twas the night before Christmas

    DD1's favorite book, that she now at 2 years old has pretty much memorized, is Brown Bear, Brown Bear. She's loved it since she was itty bitty.

    One of my favorites, I read it to DD2 every night, is Guess How Much I Love You.

    Corduroy

    Love You Forever

    Cat in the Hat

    Bernstein Bears series

    God Gave Me You. Love it and the pictures are amazing. It's about a Polar bear family having a baby.

    Also, I have Love You, Little Bear. It's a board book that interacts with a stuffed bear that talks and it's super cool. LO loves it and can do it on her own now..which is nice.

    Our favorite bedtime book is I Love You, Stinky Face.

    I also love On the Night You Were Born and Old Turtle but DS is too young to get into things that don't get read with crazy voices.

    Def "On the night you were born" by Nancy Tilman. Had never read it before and one night was deciding on a book to read to LO from the many we got at the shower and as I read it I got teary eyed. Now its a repeat for our night time ritual

    I really like Karen Katz's books like Where Is Baby's Belly Button? They have flaps that you lift up. They are so cute.

    If you are looking for a board book, these are our favorites.  (Board books are best while they are young so they can't rip the pages.)

    1- Baby Giggles (this was DSs favorite book as an infant, he loved to look at baby faces.)
    2- Baby Colors (same author)
    3-Horray for Fish
