What snacks are you bringing?

I'm trying to make a list of snacks to bring for myself, DH and my mom for the hospital, I've got the basic electrolyte drinks and granola bars, any suggestions?

Re: What snacks are you bringing?

  • I just have granola bars, Crystal light, crasins and probably a few apples.  I'm thinking I won't be eating that much when I first get there and I live a mile from my house so DH can run home or go to the cafeteria to get food.  The L&D unit also has a fridge that they keep stocked with food too so I'm not worried to bring too much.

  • my hospital has really good food, but i'm bringing a bunch of dried fruit and some metamucil packets to add to water (not a snack obviously) but the two serve the same purpose.....help go potty! it's a real issue after childbirth

  • We're bringing gatorade, granola bars, and change for the vending machines. I get to eat the hospital food free of charge but my husband doesn't. Thankfully, we have some friends who have offered to bring food for him :) Such nice friends!

  • I packed a box of crackers and peanut butter. It's pretty important for me to get protein asap after anything really strenuous because I'm hypoglycemic, but I can imagine that protein would be important for normal people too, so that's something to consider.

  • We're bringing granola bars, trail mix, and peanut M&Ms (DH is a big M&M fan, so he requested them since we always have them at home).  We'll also have change for the vending machine.  I've heard our hospital has really great food, and DH also gets food vouchers for while I'm there, so I doubt I bring much more than the above, unless we think of something else we might want.

  • To be honest, I'll let my dh worry about that. The hospital Im going to starts you on an IV right away, so I won't be eating. There's a chow hall, a subway, a BX, and vending machines. I'm confident he'll manage.

My hospital had unlimited free broth, jello, popsicles, and drinks for me during labor. These were lifesavers! If your hospital does not have any of those things I would definitely suggest them. You will need a lot of energy and strength to get through the labor and delivery phases. DH brought energy drinks, trail mix, peanut butter crackers, cheese and crackers, and some beef jerky. That seemed to keep him content over the 26 hours of labor.

  • I should probably start thinking of this!  Most likely gluten free crackers and an apple.  DH can go to the vending machine for me if needed, and one of my friends is a chef in the kitchen, so she will hook me up (hopefully!)

  • Vitamin water, Gatorade, granola bars, small bags of chips/snacks & cookies. Oh...& change for the vending machines in case we want something from there.
