When to remove steri-strips?

Doc told me they should fall off, but it has been 2+ weeks and they are still there...Last time it took 5 weeks to fall off; I had staples last time, and this time I had stitches only...Sometimes I feel like the strips are all that is holding me together if I sneeze/cough. Should I remove them or let them be?

    If they're not too gross, I'd leave them alone. I took mine off at one week (per my OBs instructions), and my incision came open.

    I was told 7 days after leaving the hospital.  I kept mine on one day past that - no issues so far.

    I just left them alone until they started falling off. With my first 2 C/S's I was fine, with my last I took a few off early cause they were pinching me and I ended up opening up and having an infection. I think one of the reasons was becaue I wasnt taking it easy though.

    My doc took them off for me at my two week pp visit.

    The Doc told me to let them fall off when they took the staples out.  I let most of them fall off they started about 2 weeks after the staples, so I was 3 week pp.  The last few I just pulled off, they were gross and DS is 4 weeks old.

    My doc told me at my 2 week appt that I could take them off the following week. I didn't feel comfortable doing that, so I left them on and let them fall off on their own. There were a couple that I had to remove before my 6 week checkup so he wouldn't question why I never removed them.

    My Dr said I could let mine come off themselves or take them off in a week or two.  Mine were showing no signs of coming off themselves after about almost 2 weeks so I took them off myself and I didn't have any problems.

    my doc took the  five or six ones I had left off at my two week check up
