So over this baby weight

I am so beyond over not having my body back...but heck...it was lost before I got pregnant LOL

So ...i have ordered THE INSANITY work out. I am not doing the whole Shakelogy thing but am going to try the work outs. I have to do something to lose this weight. tracking my food and intake is just not enough.

What are you doing to lose the weight?

Re: So over this baby weight

  • I ordered the insnaity tapes last year... I just so happened to find out I was prego that week also :) So I am hoping that next week I can start them. I just had the nexplanon put in my arm and im waiting for it to heal. Ive been walking everyday with LO in the moby wrap but It seems like I eat more now than I was when I was pregnant ( I like to think its from being bored at work and not just bc im a fatty). I still have about 15 llbs to go to even get back to my pre pregnancy weight. I hope to lose more than that ... I just need to quit eating so darn much.

  • It's different everyday but I go on bike rides, walk, run, play tennis, swim laps (just started and LOVE it), yoga, zumba on the wii, and a slim in 6 DVD I have. I try to keep a variety of things in mind so I don't get bored. I've been using the myfitnesspal app on my phone to track what I eat.

  • I'm BFing, watching what I eat, drinking a ton of water and doing the 30DS and still nothing.  I haven't lost any more than what I did right after I gave birth.  I'm also totally over not fitting in my clothes.  Grrrrrr.....  The next person who tells me that BFing will cause the weight to just fall off is gonna get throat-punched.

I second that thought! I breast fed all the way until I went back to work...only bc they do not offer a place or time to pump...but it didnt help me lose the weight.

It doesn't happen for everyone, but with DD I (and hopefully with this one!) I didn't really start loosing weight until 3 months pp and then it fell off quickly.  Give it time, but also keep watching what you eat and exercising!

  • after 6 weeks of running 3-4 times a day and eating pretty damn healthy I decided I couldn't lose weight alone. So I got a personal trainer. I have been sore every day for a week and already feel better. I also signed up for tough mudder its next month so I am FORCED to exercise. I have only lost like 7 lbs since giving birth( I look better but my weight isn't changing) but I think I will be doing much better this month.

  • Yea I also think that breastfeeding is inhibiting my weight loss. I have NEVER had this much trouble losing weight and I don't eat a lot 1500 cal or under and I ebf. I am thinking my body just keeps weight on while I breastfeed.

Amen to this!  Like pp, I think bf-ing is actually inhibiting my weight loss.  I started the South Beach diet, which I've had a lot of success with in the past, but have seen little change.  I'm not doing it full-on for fear of hurting my bm supply, but still!  Argh.  I'm trying to fit exercising in but it's hard with working full time and wanting to spend time with DD.

Anyone else feel like they might never look like they did pre pregnancy?  I think my hips are wider.  A lot of my pants close over that area and I don't think they're going to button even when I get the stomach flab under control.  :

  • I'm tired of not being as toned as I'm used to being-especially hate the pooch! I work out 6 days a wk and eat healthy, I allow myself one cheat a wk. I cannot lose my last 10, but more annoying is what appears to be the two extra inches on my waist. Im not even close to getting into my prepreg pants. Glad I'm not alone with this frustration

  • For those BF (which includes myself), I think we have to be patient with our bodies while we're nurishing our child. (That's what my leader at WW keeps telling me any ways). In the grand scheme of life, how long do you plan to BF vs not? There is plenty of time to lose the weight...as people say "it took 9 months to put the weight on" blah blah blah. I know you ladies have heard these things before, but we have to keep reminding ourselves right Wink For those not BF as well as those who are, keep in mind that you BIRTHED a child. Our bodies will never be the same, much like our lives pre-children. Think of those extra inches with pride at making another human being. I'm not trying to sound preachy, or like you can't mourn your pre-baby body (although personally, I didn't like mine all that much and hope to get to a much better place, in time). Just look at your LO's sweet face whenever you get frustrated.

  • I am so annoyed with my new proportions and keep trying to make time to workout.  I have not been totally successful yet but I have hope that I'll be able to commandeer 20 min somewhere to at least do some zumba.

  • I still have the 10 pounds that won't seem to come off too.  I am hungry all the time, and admittedly don't fit in the time for workouts most days.  We do go for walks, but I don't feel like that will be enough to lose weight.  I actually went to buy an outfit for DD's Christening and that was depressing, because things just didn't fit smoothly the way they used to.  I wasn't going to buy a dress because it is too difficult to nurse wearing a dress, but I just threw in the towel after awhile because I found a dress that made me look halfway decent.  I will just have to find a way to nurse.  Like PP poster said, I just kept reminding myself in the change room that I just had a baby and she is way worth it.

  • Yup me too!  Those last 10 pounds refuse to budge.  Also, I am hating the pooch.  I am running again...back up to 2 miles already.  So, hopefully as my mileage increases, so will my weight loss.  Oh, and I so cannot watch what I eat.  I am terrible at that!!

  • SO glad to know i am not alone!! OK ...so it sounds like most of us are lacking the energy/time to fit in our work outs. I think we should all make each other accountable and check in once a week with some type of work out. Lets start with one hour a week check in!

How about a Tuesday check in. Every Tuesday we all check in with what exercise we did for the week of actual working out.

Could be - Walking for an hour

                   Gym or weights

                   Swimming one hour

Lets do this for 2 weeks then bump it up to 2 check ins a week....

  • I have to keep reminding myself that it has only been two months. I can fit into my regular jeans again but my extra fat I already had is even worse now. I already had 20lbs or so to lose. Now it just looks more obvious. I looked so skinny those first few weeks after giving birth. lol. Now, I am used to no longer being pregnant and no longer look skinny.

I'm doing the Boot Camp DVD that came in my trimester workouts by Lindsey Brin. I like it so far. I only do it about 3 times a week but it is helping. It's how I went from having to use my belly band to being able to button my jeans.

I am BF'ing as is a friend, both with her first and now with her 2nd. She lost the weight like crazy. I am not. Everyone is just different.

Honestly, you may not be taking in enough calories, so your body is holding on to every last bit because it feels like it is being starved.  This link recommends 2300 cal/day for a woman who is 5' 4" and wants to get back down to 120 lbs.

I think this part is very important to remember:

"Count on taking ten months to a year to return to your pre-pregnancy weight."

I always remind myself that it took 9 months to gain the weight, so I should expect at least 9 months to lose it in a healthy way.

  • I agree lack of calories and your body stores fat as its in starvation mode. I'm eating lots of protein and small meals, snacking to keep energy going etc Also I slows myself a cheat food ( non "healthy") once a wk -usually sushi with all the sauces :)-yum!

I was taking in 2000 calories and actually gained nearly 10 lbs AFTER giving birth. I eat all day long but with fruit and veggies its pretty hard to eat that much. When I spoke to my lc she said if I am getting in my nutrients thats all that matters. I am better off getting 1500 healthy calories than 2000 junk calories since most are empty calories. My milk supply is awesome. And since my  workout were upped I lost 3 pounds.

Yes, me too.  In fact, I had the pleasure of a stranger asking me when I was due, thinking that I am currently pregnant!  That was fun.

  • At first, the weight was melting off because i started breastfeeding,  After going back to work , where I sit at a desk most of the day, the weight seems to be creeping back.  I'm still breastfeeding and pumping at work.  I was about to order Insanity, then I figured I'm well over 200 pounds and could see myself getting discouraged by the pace of the workouts.  I ordered the Zumba workout DVDs and am soooo looking forward to getting started.
  • A huge chunk of weight came off  the first week I was home from the hospital, but it's been a slow process trying to lose the last few! I just started running again about 2 weeks ago, but that too is a struggle. I'm much slower and my legs are so weak from not exercising towards the end of my pregnancy. I try to drink about 96 oz of water each day and I try to watch what I eat. Since I'm BF, I try to eat the right kinds of food but don't limit my calories. I read somewhere (might have even been this site) to give yourself 9 months to lose all of the weight since that's how long it took to put it all on. It stinks because I'm sick of looking at my pooch too and want it gone!

  • I also read in my book that breastfeeding benefits for weightloss don't come until 3 mos and again at 9 mos.  That is when your milk has the most fat in it.

Also, I just started a mommy and me yoga class this week.  (Tons of fun).  Anyway, the instructor was talking about the recovery of your body, specifically abs.  She had a fancy name for the space between your ab muscles that comes with pregnancy (which I forgot) and said that if you can fit more than 2 fingers in the space between the muscles, it is dangerous to do crunches and situps until more recovered.. you can injure yourself more.  I haven't done insanity but I'm guessing there is a lot of ab work so ladies be careful!  I was at 2.5 fingers and never had that big of a bump because of my medical issues.
