When to stop working?

For those of you who are not stay at home moms, when did you or are you planning on taking off work to get ready for the big day?

I keep having nightmares that my water will break here in the office!! Huh? (Plus my husband is trying to get me to go ahead and start staying home) I am 34 weeks as of yesterday!

i am due the 28th and got a note from the dr to have my last day of work be july 20th. i was also terrified of going into labor at work, haha. i work in a giant building with a long walk to a door, let alone my car! since i have a note from the doc, it is covered by short term disability. i dont know how things work at other places tho.

I am working until my due date of July 18th, and I might even stick around if it looks like he isn't budging. I am 34 weeks pregnant and don't really have a reason not to come to work.

I'm due on July 17th and my current plan is for my last day to be July 6th. So I'll likely have a week and a bit (plus any overdue days) off before the baby arrives. I do have some vacation time left though, so I might leave a week earlier. Also, because I have vacation left, I'm able to have shorter weeks my last three weeks at work - so that makes it more bearable.

I am due on Monday the 30th, so I am thinking my last day will be on the Friday before. This will depend on my doctors appointment that week, and if I have any signs that he will be here soon. If there are no signs and the doctor thinks I am going to go late I will either keep working at the office or see if my boss will let me work from home once I get past my due date until he comes.

I wanted to work until LO gets here but DF thinks I should a week or 2 before hand off. I've just been exhausted after work and not much is getting done around here. At least if I have a week or 2, I can do stuff, nap, do stuff, nap, etc...

I plan to work until the end of the month. I'll be 38 weeks on my last day at work.

I wouldn't worry too much about your water breaking at work. I think only like 15-20% of women experience their water spontaneously breaking prior to labor actually starting. And even if it does break, chances are it won't be a massive gush like you see in the movies. It'll probably be more like a smaller leak/trickles. If you're super concerned, start wearing a pad to work (to catch any leakage, if it happens, so it doesn't get all over your clothes), and bring a change of clothes (so if it does get on your clothes, you can quickly put on something clean in the bathroom). From that point, don't panic -- you should have plenty of time (and then some) to get to the hospital without having to rush and stress yourself out.

Friday is my last day, right before I turn 34 weeks. But I am stopping a little earlier than normal because its twins. I also have an hour commute too and i am barely making it home without falling asleep at the wheel, scary as that is.

Thank you ALL so much! I didn't know what the "norm" was for this! I think I'd go stir crazy sitting at home all day so hopefully I can talk my lover bunny in to letting me work until closer to the due date (i am due July17). My husband is also my boss (family ran business) so what he says go (well, between 8 and 5! then i get to be the boss after 5!)

I am due July 5 and just informed my company that my last day of work will be June 29. I wanted to have a break (hopefully) to relax in between, time to get things ready in the house, etc.

I have a Scheduled CS on Friday July 13th. So my last day of work is Thursday July 12th. I only get 8 weeks off with him, so I don't want to take any time off before hand.

My work offers 2 weeks prior to DD to start your leave and then you still get 6/8 weeks depending on delivery once baby is born. So my EDD is 7/14 my last day of work is 6/28. I think ill need the time to get the last things done that I dont get to before then , Who knows maybe ill go crazy though

I planned to work until the end, but was taken out when my blood pressure suddenly shot up (and was accompanied with some pre-e symptoms). If you're worried about being at work when things start to happen, talk to your doctor. They can recommend when/if you should stop working.

My doctor wanted me to stop going to the office at 38 weeks, only because I have an hour+ commute. So I'll be working from home those last two weeks. Which I was fortunately able to arrange.

I've got painful muscle separation in my abdomen, so next Friday (June 15) is my last day in the office. However, I'll work from home up until my due date (July 11).

My plan is to work up util Friday, July 6th (due 07/07) as long as everything's going ok.

My water broke on my way out of work with DS1, it wasn't a gush and I really thought I had peed my pants until I got home and it wouldn't stop! And it would stop trickling when I stood up/walked so I wore a pad from home to the hospital but it was dry when I got there...

Tomorrow is my last day of work...but I'm a teacher. My sister is 38 weeks pregnant and has been having contractions every 6-10 minutes at work today. She's been contracting for 10 days now and cannot wait for active labor to start. Everyone is different...

I'm in CA and you can start disability at 36 weeks. So that's what I plan to do. My last day of work is June 15. Last time I worked until 39 weeks - my water broke about 8 hours after I got home from work and 24 long hours later my son was here. I need some down time this this time around! I'm not returning until Jan so I wanted a few weeks (cross fingers) to get some stuff off MY to- do list.
