We flew Virgin America and didn't need anything. Some require proof of age. Since you're not sure, I'd take a copy of the birth certificate to be safe.
DS born 6/11/11, miscarriage on 8/6/2012 at 10w5d, miscarriage on 12/29/13 at 5w4d, BFP #4 on 2/21/2104 at 3w4d - EDD 11/3/2014 ♡
I was not asked for any form of ID for DD in April or May when we flew on both Frontier and United Airlines. I did bring along a copy of her birth certificate, just in case, although I did call ahead of time and confirm with them that nothing was necessary. I'm just paranoid, I guess!

Ah I'm way too late, I just noticed the time of this post, but it is airline dependent. We've flown 15 times domestically. Southwest is the most obnoxious (compared to Airtran, Delta, UsAir, and United). They need it to prove under two if you don't have a seat for them. The other airlines use their brains to see she is nowhere near two. Southwest almost didn't let me fly.
I've flown a handful of times with DS and DD and only was asked once (probably by Southwest) for the birth certificate. I keep the copies just in case. They won't ask for DS anymore since he gets his own seat now and DD is clearly under 2.
Re: Quick: flying domestic with DD, need ID? UPDATED
Thank you! Perhaps I should've thought about this earlier than a half hour before we leave
