Most of you on the FB group already know most of this, but I'll post here too for those who didn't...
It's been a roller coaster ride since early March with my daughter being in and out of the hospital with multiple health issues. Her newest one is epilepsy, which the doctor wanted to start treating immediately.
She called in the perscription before 10am and I got there 10 minutes before 6pm--so OVER eight hours to fill this perscription.
Firstly, the idiot tech apparently thought I was an idiot because I gave him my daughter's name and spelled the last name and when he couldn't find it, he came back to ask me if I was sure that was her last name. I said "yes..."
Then he came back and asked me if I was sure her last name started with a C and not a K! I said "Yes, I am sure. It's my daughter."
So then he asks the other tech, who says there was an error with the instructions and it will take a few minutes.
20 minutes goes by and I ask the guy what's going on. He tells me 10 more minutes. I walk around the store for another 20 minutes and go back, it's still not ready. He goes over to ask the tech who yells "Just give me a MINUTE!" to which I'm thinking "You've had 8 freaking hours!"
So FINALLY, after an hour, they say my order is ready. I take it out and I notice that I have THREE out of NINETY pills, so when I ask WHY I have three instead of ninety, the idiot tech tells me that they will have the rest for me tomorrow because it's an expensive medicine without insurance and wanted to give me a chance to get the money together.
1. I would HAVE the money needed ($100)
2. I HAVE insurance
So I tell the guy I DO have insurance, to which he goes "Uh...you do?" He goes and talks to the tech who yells at ME that if I have insurance, she needs my insurance card--something they NEVER asked me for in the HOUR I was there.
I give it to her, she scans it in and I get my card back and the guy tells me to pick up the rest tomorrow. By now it's after 7pm and I need to give this medicine to my daughter by quarter of 8 and my daughter is at my mother's house, 20 minutes away, so I need to leave. So I'm like fine, I'll pick the rest up.
So I go to the lady and said "Will my order be ready WHEN I get here tomorrow?"
And she gets nasty and goes "Maybe, maybe not. I don't know."
I just called and they apparently can't tell me ANYTHING about my order. So I'm going to have to go there after I get off work AGAIN and probably have to wait around for another hour to MAYBE get some pills for my daughter's epilepsy.
I really am doing my best to not just go find a corner to cry in.
Re: Nervous Breakdown
Oof. That's effed up of them! In my experience, it's because they are in the wrong line of work, and really don't care about their patients' lives.
I would've told that woman where she could stick her b*tch-face attitude!
Question: is it a chain pharmacy? If so, could you possibly file a complaint? They would be able to know who worked what shift, so you could definitely tell them who gave you a bad time. That's ridiculous, especially seeing as how important the medicine is!
How frustrating! deep breaths. Personally I would be calling tomorrow morning and asking to speak with the store manager, and secondly, I would be taking my business else where, to be treated like a HUMAN! when the store is HAPPY and GREATFUL for my business! ugh, I hate rude, inconsiderate people. Or if you don't want to bother with talking to a manager I would just go somewhere else and have them call to transfer the script.....but forsure I wouldn't be shy about telling them tomorrow how rude and inconsiderate they have been to you.
Don't cry
*hugs*
YES! File a complaint. You shouldn't have been treated like that.
I know it is tough, but don't cry - you are doing what you need to do for your daughter. It is them dropping the ball, and you need to be strong for her.
Yeah, it was Target. I plan to contact the store manager too because this has been a nightmare.
The only reason I didn't go elsewhere is because the doctor called it in, I couldn't ask for my script back to go elsewhere, so I'm stuck with them at least for this first bottle.
This, definitely!

The pharmacist was there yesterday and for some reason, he let her (the tech) boss him around like that too. She was nasty to him, I had questioned him regarding if these were the sprinkle tablets specific for young children with epilepsy and he asked me why I only had three.
When he questioned the tech, she yelled "I have ALREADY DONE THAT! It's DONE!"
And he kind of cowed to her...
I need to talk to the store manager, but I want to talk to them in person, so I'm going to talk to them today when I go in tonight.
Uh...I think I'd ask for my prescription script back and just go somewhere else. I would have NEVER put up with that attitude for any length of time.
Either that or I would've just yelled at them, told them to get their act together, and if she wants to be rude to an exhausted pregnant woman who has a sick child at home, she's gonna have more to deal with than just her shitty job. I would've then asked if there were any competant people there that can help me, or do they only employ assholes.
Yeah its mean, but when someone is excessively rude to me, for zero reason what so ever, I have a really hard time not making them feel really stupid.
OOOh target pharmacies are the WORST! I went in when I was going to prenatals and asked if they had any good for vegetarians...the pharmacist (yes I know for sure it was a pharmacist not a tech) didn't even know anything about any of the prenatal drugs and started reading the labels...uhh I can do that myself.
I'm angry and frustrated just reading this!
I totally would have flipped my $h!t. The whole store would've known and everyone on their way in....
Just because the doctor called it in, doesn't mean the pharmacy can't transfer it to another pharmacy.
Screw finding a corner to cry in, I woulda had a hissy fit in the store.
"I'm pregnant, it's been 8 hours and I have a very sick child at home that needs her medicine. GIVE IT STRAIGHT!" ...... but, they may have called security, so good for you for being calm, LOL
That's my hormonal opinion.
My husband actually went for me because I was already stressed out when they couldn't tell me anything about my script.
He said he got there and it was already filled, so he didn't have to wait or anything. ^_^ I guess after my call in about the medication (and explaining to them that this is for my epileptic daughter), they got on filling it.
He did talk to the manager for me, but told me I should call because he didn't know all the details.
I feel so much better now knowing that she has her medicine now that should last almost 2 months and I will be going elsewhere from now on.
I'm going to call today on my lunch to talk to the store manager (who wasn't there yesterday).
That whole experience was crazy!
Call and ask to speak to the pharmacy manager. Explain the situation, and ask him/her to make sure that the remainder of the prescription will be ready when you arrive tomorrow.
I understand that pharmacies can be very busy and pharmacists have a lot on their plates at once, but it doesn't explain why no one had asked for your insurance card prior to that, or why they didn't talk to you and explain the price when they thought you didn't have insurance, and proceeded to hand you 3 pills with little to no explanation.
There is something wrong with their workflow system, and the pharmacy manager needs to be made aware.
