Trust me, I am not complaining, but our LO sleeps a lot! Most nights he sleeps 7:30-8:00 or 9:00 and then takes a 2-3 hour morning nap and a 1 1/2-2 hour afternoon nap. It seems like a lot to me, but I don't know if there's any real cause for concern or not.
Re: Can a 10 month old get too much sleep?
My handy chart suggests naps 3 hours total at 9 mos and 2.5 hours at 12 mos; overnight 11-12 hours. I would think 4 hrs is within the bell curve.
My LO is napping 1-2 hrs in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon. So every day total 3 (often) to 5 (rarer) hrs. She's having a bit of sleep regression, so her overnight is 10-11 hrs. I keep thinking she'll be going to 1 nap a day soon, but I guess that's a ways out... or not...
I wouldn't be concerned if your LO is happy and healthy in other ways!

I am jealous!
DS sleeps an average of 12.5 hours per day. Usually on weekdays it's more like 12 hours (only takes a 30 min nap at daycare), and on weekends maybe 14.
My DD is 13 months old and does the same thing on weekends. During the week she only takes one nap for 1-1 1/2 hours at daycare, and sleeps 12+ hours.
I think it's great! My DD plays hard all day long. She's been walking for months, so it's what her little body needs.
Ok... your post makes me wanna cry and knock you out at the same time... My 11 month old has slept through the night ONCE since he was born. Effffff...
But, really I am glad someone out there is getting some sleep at night! I am sure there is no such thing as "too much sleep." And, if so, it is probably like "too many fruits and veggies" or "too much fun and sun."
No. Like adults, some babies are more "high sleep needs" than others. As long as he seems happy and healthy, don't you dare worry that he is sleeping too much!
Also, for all you know he is waking several times during the night, even during those naps, and just being so quiet that you have no idea. I used to think that DD slept until 8:00 until one day DH told me that he always hears her at 6:30 when he gets up, but she's not loud enough to wake me up (even through the monitor on full volume) until at least an hour later!
My daughter is the same. It kind of sounds like a lot to me too however if your baby is happy and is pretty active during his awake times, there's probably nothing to be concerned about.
I hate you.
