We have a bouncer but not a swing yet. I'm going to BRU this week to finish buying what I need (little late I know) but wondering if I need both? Our bouncer has a vibration setting on it.
Some babies do not care for a swing. Maybe you could wait until your LO arrives? We didn't buy a swing the first time, thinking the seat would be enough. Of course DS ended up loving the swing, so we just borrowed one at that point. He had reflux, so I think that had something to do with it.
with DS i didn't want to buy a swing because of space constraints....then fast forward to week 3 i was begging DH to go get one. we wound up loving it and i'd now consider it essential (unless your child winds up not liking it for some reason). But a bouncer is portable room to room so it serves a purpose as well. But DS was a bigger fan of the swing than the bouncer. we'll see what this baby thinks.
diagnosed with stage IV endo via lap surgery
IVF #1 - 27 eggs! 14 fertilized (3 natural, 11 ICSI) 5dt of A embryo, froze 6
BFP on 9/28!
Baby K born via surprise c-section after 15 hrs of labor and he is perfect!!
It seems like babies tend to like one or the other, so maybe try the seat first and then decide if you need the swing? but who knows, maybe your LO will like both

Thanks ladies. I got the bouncer as a shower gift so I'll keep and see how it goes if LO likes it and go from there to see if I need the swing or not. We have a small house so we dont' have a ton of room for a swing if I don't need it.
I have both -- the bouncer was great because when i needed to shower and i was alone, i could just bring it in the room with me and put LO in it to hang out. It was easy to move around room to room. The swing was great since DD would sit there and fall asleep. It's much larger though so you can't just easily move it around, but it was great. We also had one that plugged in the wall. If you have space restrictions or don't want to spend on both, i would definitely go with the smaller bouncer.
We did not use a swing for my son. And we are only going to use Snugabunny Rock n Play and the Snugabunny Bouncer for my daughter. The swing would take up too much room.

Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God.
We got both. Primarily because DS enjoyed both. Our swing is a spacesaver though, not a full size and works just as well as the big ones. The height is adjustable and can be moved very easily.
Re: swing and bouncer?
frozen transfer a success! boy #2 via VBAC
I bought both. One for upstairs and one for downstairs. I too am a ftm and feel as though I may go a bit overboard on some things.
