Lake Vacation

Thinking of doing a lake vacation this summer for a quick weekend getaway with our family. We've never done lake before so this is totally new to us.

Any place that you would like to recommend? We have 4 and 2 yr so ideally I'd love to have close proximity to the pool and lake.

What activities should we look into doing?

Maybe you could into Lake Lanier Islands? I don't anything about their lodgings but we take our boat to Sunset Cove a lot. There is a restaurant, bar, beach, and a waterslide there. I know the resort runs a shuttle to Sunset Cove. Once a month they have a Full Moon Party with fireworks at night. Lanier World is right there too (water park). Groupon and Half off depot frequently have half off boat rentals too.

I just got back from Carter's lake. It was fabulous, water was great! I also really like Lake Nottley and Lake Chatuge. We went camping, so I am not really that helpful on places to stay. But previously I have stayed at The Fieldstone Resort on Lake Chatuge - The place was HUGE - not a lot of ammenities, no frills and there was a kitchen in our unit - but we were given passes to a fun zone, movie night and discount restaurant tickets. There is a lot to do up there in general. And I believe Jody has stayed at the resort that is just below this one. It is beautiful up there.

I am sure you can find a cabin or house rental up there too if you look on vrbo or something similar.

We stayed at Lake Lanier's Lodge last year and loved it! We just stayed one night and did the water park the next day. Food was great at the lodge and we enjoyed the pool. Great grounds for walking/hiking.

it was nice, but laid out really weird. its actually for sale for a cool $1 million but even if i had a million bucks to blow on a lake house, this would not be my first choice! a lot of wasted space, etc. there's one bedroom on the main floor with a king bed and en suite bathroom, one on the top floor with a queen bed and en suite bathroom, and one bedroom on the bottom floor with a king bed and en suite bedroom. there's also another room on the bottom floor set up as bedroom but the closest bathroom to it is inside the other room. there is a half bath on the bottom floor as well but its a good walk from the other bedroom.

its a huge house and great to vacation at, but not to buy! haha!
