Orajel alternative?

I saw this story warning against using Orajel for teething

https://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2012/06/01/fda-warns-about-benzocaine-in-baby-pain-gels/?hpt=hp_t3

Does anyone have a good alternative aside from a cold teething ring?

  • Mainstream: Motrin

Less so: Hyland's or Camilia and wooden teethers [LittleSapling on etsy is an EFF board favorite]

Hippieland: Amber Necklaces, BLW: chilled steamed carrots or other root veggies, or clove oil

  • We did/do the amber teething necklace.  Also Hylands teething tablets are a must in this house!!!  One or two times I think I used Motrin but I don't think it did all that great.  Raw veggies help or a wet frozen washcloth.
  • Hyland's teething tablets are a life saver in this house! They work really well. The Camilia or whatever it is did not work for us. Motrin didn't do much either

Camilia fan right here.  It worked wonders on DD!
  • We use chamomile drops

  • I haven't found anything that DD will tolerate. She hates teethers, frozen washcloths, etc. FYI, there are warnings against the Hylands teething tablets. Some kids have had some serious side effects from the Belladonna in them. DD's previous pedi told us not to use them b/c a lot of their patients had problems.

We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy.  Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
