FINALLY! Update from "Feels like a dumb question"

After my irregular contractions they finally tuned up to 5 mins apart and we went to the hospital at 1:30am. They checked me and I was only 2cm (same as at my appointment a few days before) so they sent me home at 3:40am telling me to come back if my water broke or my contractions got to be too much to handle. Well at 4:00am my water broke and we waited a bit and the contraction intensity came RUSHING on like a freight train.

So we went back and they gave me some morphine to handle the pain as we waited for my contractions to get closer together. Well they didn't and my cervix didn't move so at 8:30am the doctor asked if I wanted oxytocin to push things along (which I did) and after a little tweaking they got me to 2 mins apart and 5cm dilated by 11am and gave me a walking epidural - which was awesome since I was having back spasms between contractions as well so 0 relief for me. By 12:30 they were back to back and I was fighting the urge to push, which nobody told me about and it hurt more than the actual contractions. Thankfully they checked me and I only had a small lip of cervix left in the way but the nurse let me push and she said I made it over that easily and 30 mins later of pushing my baby GIRL was born at 1:10pm!

DH was so excited to be able to tell me it was a girl. Shockingly she was 9lbs 15oz; which was such a surprise to both of us! There was very minimal tearing which I am so thankful for and since everything went so well we were discharged today! Such a whirlwind experience and I'm so glad to be home with my little girl! :)

    Wow! Congratulations. Can't say I'm not a tiny bit jealous :-) But I am really happy for you! What a big girl! She must be adorable (they always are)!!!! Can't believe you are home already. Way to go!

    Oh my gosh, I kiss them all the time. I love baby cheeks and now I have a cute little set of my own :P
