LO is almost 9 months and doesn't seem too interested in the bottle unless he is really hungry. When I feed him purees he gets mad because I will not let him feed himself because he will make a mess and can't really use the spoon yet. My question is, what do you give your LO for finger foods? There is not alot of choice at his age since some things are allergy risks. I've just done small pieces of cooked carrots, bananas, apples, these little cheeto things, puffs, and yogurt melts. Any other ideas? Thanks!
Re: New finger food ideas?
We have the opposite problem....our LO loves purees and the bottle and is very picky about solids.
Some of the finger foods she likes: mandarin oranges, shredded cheese, deli turkey, graham crackers, waffles. Keeping in mind that I'm neurotic about choking so everything we give LO is in very small pieces.
I like this website for different baby food ideas. www.weelicious.com. Also consider getting this book called Baby Led Weaning Cookbook which is pretty much all finger food recipes for babies to eat.
Good luck!
I buy the stick cheese and cut into smaller pieces. Works great. Other things you can try is the colored rotini noodles cut in half or 3's(whatever you are comfortable with), chunks of chicken or hamburger meat, buy a bag of frozen mixed veggies and steam (i sprinkle a little bit of cinammon on DD's before I steam), cheese quesadilla(DD loves this), waffles, toast, scrambled eggs, the list goes on....
DD has been on table food since 7 months old. I am not the food police. If it isn't on the big no no list and she won't choke on it then I give it to her.
Offer everything you eat, except honey. Cutting off a corner of your piece of chicken and a couple spears of vegetabls for him would be fine. Just dice up his food into tiny pieces, and keep track of what you are giving him in case you see signs of allergies. I'm taking full advantage of this age where she's open to eating anything I offer!
pasta, ripe pears and peaches, little cubes of cheese (very small), cooked veggies: green beans, peas, carrot, broccoli.
small pieces of toast with pureed fruit spread on it, cheerios.

She loves peas and lima beans. I buy the bag of frozen organic mixed veggies that has corn, peas, and carrots and warm up some lima beans also and she goes to town. Plus no chopping so that's nice
Sweet potato fries, shredded cheese, ravioli (I tear it up into pieces), Cheerios, steamed mangos, peaches, pineapple. Blueberries (though I try to spoon feed those most of the time bc they stain her fingers--she likes them so much she will let me.) Ground turkey, baked chicken breast. Really anything you eat he can eat!
