My poor Max...He has been up to date on all his vaccinations, but somehow he got kennel cough. He has been coughing a lot and is congested. He is still drinking and eating, going outside, going for walks. DH took him to our new vet and they said as long as he is eating/drinking and not vomiting it up, he just needs to wait it out.
They did not give him any meds...I was not sure if anyone knew if there was anything else we could do for him in the meantime.

Re: Pet owners: Anyone familar with kennel cough?
Our las do had it as a puppy and we were told to use cough syrup
The bordetella shot is the one to help prevent kennel cough and it's optional at most vets so may not have been included with your normal vaccinations. If you haven't already, you may want to check.
Im sorry you guys are going through this. It is rough, especially when you can't do anything to help. I hope it passes quickly!

Thanks ladies, I know he was up to date on bordetella because I just had to get all his paper work in order prior to our move. Our new vet told us too that the bordetella vaccination is not that effective...
He is definitely honking away like a goose and looking quite miserable . I have him snuggled up with his favorite blanket and toy. I just feel for him after going through the trauma of flying last week and now this.
