Am I the only one carrying a 50 pound diaper bag and feeling like a total idiot about it (but will continue to do it anyway)? I have a humungous Marc Jacobs baby bag and I still can't believe I manage to fill it up. I used to carry giant handbags so the size isn't the issue, it's the weight! Because I hate the idea of being without something that I might need so even for short trips, I take my fully stocked bag which includes:
I know this is completely irrational and insane, but I always think of those stories that turn into Lifetime movies where a family gets stranded after their car careens off a road and they're stuck there with no supplies. At least I know I've got at least a full day of total comfort until emergency rescue arrives.
We've also had one single poop blowout in our baby lifetime and it was major so I was glad to have all the extra supplies because I definitely made use out of most of them. It's great how a swaddle blanket can turn into a towel at a moment's notice!
Who else carries their whole changing table with them like I do?
Re: How much crap do you tote around in your diaper bag?
Mine is pretty loaded down too. But I also have a small bookbag for quick trips like 1 bottle, passy clip, a few diapers, wipes and a onesie. No biggie. I mainly keep the big one stocked so that I don't have to re-pack everything each time I go out.
I'm just glad I don't have to mix bottles each day for daycare. His nanny is stocked with bottles and formula at her house!
Nope.
-blanket that I also use as a nursing cover
-burp cloth
-4 disposable diapers/2 cloth/1 wet bag/1 ziploc/wipes package/couple diaper disposable bags
-sun hat/sleeper/onesie/socks/zip hoodie
-2 pacis in the storage container they came in (Mam)
-paci leash/nail clippers/emery board
-rattle
-book or magazine sometimes
I still carry my purse most the time. If not, I just throw my wallet in the diaper bag. The only time I carry anything else is if we are going to be gone the entire day. Then we don't do cloth diapers and I pack about 10 disposables. Learned the hard way to have at least 2 more than you think you need. We ended up being gone way later than planned once and I had to find a 24 hr Walmart to buy diapers at 11pm.
Married: 1/2008 ~ DD#1: 3/2012
TTC #2: Started 4/2014 BFP 7/30/15 MC 8/3/15 BFP 9/4/2015 EDD 5/16/2016
My diaper bag has:
-around 8 diapers
-wipes
-diaper rash cream
-a receiving blanket and a thicker, warm blanket
-a onesie and a sleeper
-my nursing cover
-baby sunscreen
-burp cloth
-pacifier pod with a pacifier in it
-nail file
-a very small first aid kit
-extra breast pads
I still carry my purse pretty much all the time. Looking at the list, that seems like a lot of stuff, but it doesn't feel like that much, and I use pretty much everything regularly.
I don't keep a lot in mine, but then again I haven't really gone out for extended periods yet (and if I do it is usually to a friend or relative's house).
Mine always has: 3-5 diapers, a change pad that rolls up and holds wipes and cream inside of it, a receiving blanket, 2 bibs, a hat, change of clothes, paci, tissues, my wallet, keys, and a toy
Sometimes has (depending on the day): a light blanket, sunscreen, snack for me.
I have:
6-8 diapers
travel wipes
an outfit
formula dispenser/separater
changing pad
receiving blanket (we use them as burp clothes)
pacifier
A&d
nose bulb thing
sun hat
toy keys
gas drops
his stats from the pedi (they gave us a little book and every appt it gets updated)
and for me in there I have:
my wallet
gum
checkbook
camera (in the cell phone holder on it)
Tampons (I have yet to get mine so I'm prepared. lol)
Ibuprofen
Our diaper bag is loaded. haha. When we leave to go places I put bottles with premeasured water in there too.
I try to carry just what we need -
3-4 diepers
wipes
butt cream
changing pad
bags to contain dirty diapers in case there is no trash can or to throw dirty clothes in (doggy poo bags work the same as the one marketed for infants but are a lot cheaper)
2 pacis and a clip
change of clothes
2 burp cloths
A+A blanket since they fold up small
a bottle or 2 depending on how long we are leaving
Wallet, Chapstick, gum, extra set of breast pads and cellphone
water bottle for me
I'm sure a few small toys will be included soon since dd is just starting to notice them now.
hand sanitizer is clipped to the strap hook
ETA I have heard it is good to leave a separate bag with extra diapers, wipes, a blanket and a shirt or two for yourself in the trunk just in case it is one of those days. I haven't done it yet but need to.

Where in Michigan are you? In my neighborhood, mostly on my street, there are 7 babies all born within 2 months of each other so I keep waiting to see if I run into one of my neighbors on here!
Two extra outfits+socks, 1 burp rag, 1 blanket, 2-4 bottles (depending on where we are going), about 10 diapers, small wipe container, diaper rash cream (if that is an issue), teething ring, binkie (just in case, but he rarely uses it), small container of hand sanitizer, and one toy (if we will be gone for a while). We don't go out for more than a few hours at a time. He attends daycare, but he has quite a few of these things already there.
I have:
3-4 diapers
Wipes
Small A&D, talc free baby powder, and Desitin
Gas Drops
Baby Sunblock
Pacifier wipes
Pacifier holder attached to bag with 2 pacifiers and a clip for them
Empty bottle
Extra mitts, hat, socks
A change of clothes
2 bibs
2 burp cloths
1 receiving blanket
3 disposable changing pad covers
3 disposable multipurpose pads/cloths
2 pre-soaped wash clothes (disposable)
1 wet bag
Purell (one in bag, one attached to bag)
Trash bags for dirty diapers
1-2 sets of nursing pads
Rattle
Granola bar
I think that is it.. oh and the changing pad that came with the diaper bag.
