Did/Does anyone else have PUPPS?

This pregnancy wonderfulness has been driving me up the wall for almost 2 weeks now. And of course I get one of the few things that won't go away until delivery & have a stubborn baby that won't come out!

For those who had it, how long after delivery did it take for it to go away?

Re: Did/Does anyone else have PUPPS?

  • Omg I was just about to post on this! I had my baby 11 days ago and think I developed PUPPS within the last week, it's so awful! What are you doing for some relief?? I hope yours goes away with delivery, I can't believe I have it now that pregnancy is over, talk about crappy luck :(

  • I had it from about 30 weeks on.  I had my LO Friday night and don't remember being itchy since.  I am 2 days PP and definitely not itchy anymore.  I hope yours goes away just as quickly :)
  • I've tried cortizone (sp?) which only works half the time & a couple of nights I've taken benadryl before going to bed just so I can get some sleep. I have it all over my stomach & forearms & it's spreading up my arms, to my hands, hips, legs & butt. I'll be 41w tomorrow & I'm hoping they'll induce sometime this week (not b/c of the PUPPS). So I'll definitely be asking for a prescription for something if it hasn't started to go away before I leave the hospital!
  • Ugh, the dreaded PUPPS. I got this early in my 3rd trimester, and I got rid of it :) I had tried everything, even creams the doc gave me. After some extensive research, and consulting with my dr, I started taking dandelion root. It took about 5 days, but the PUPPS went away. This worked for me, hope this helps!

My doctor said it doesn't go away with delivery. Hence why i still have it. I'm on perscription strength creme and it is still not going away since I have to wash my hands very often with a almost 2 week old. I am hoping to get some relief soon.

I didn't have PUPPS, but I do have an auto-immune disease that causes an itchy rash. Before the doctors figured out what I had & was put on meds, a paste of baking soda & water helped relieve the itch. It was the only thing that cooled me down & helped.

  • I got PUPPs at 34 weeks, and it spread all over my body. I was put on prednisone for 8 days, which helped a lot but didn't get rid of it completely. I was put back on for 10 days. Still not gone. Finally, I agreed to an induction, b/c at 3 cm and 90%, my cervix was "highly favorable" and I was losing my mind with the itching. My OB said delivery was the only way to get rid of it completely and she and I were both concerned with me being on the prednisone. (It can have some really unpleasant side effects.)

I had hydrocortisone in my IV in the hospital during L&D, and was back on prednisone during recovery in the hospital, and sent home with a script for 6 more days of it.

It's sooo much better almost 2 weeks after delivery. Still a bit itchy, but the rash is pretty much gone and the itch is vastly improved.

For over the counter things that helped: Goldbond lotion with dimethicone and camphor. Sarna lotion. Benadryl to help me sleep. The pine tar soap. Cold showers. Hydrocortisone helped very little.

I hope everyone still suffering with it feels better SOON!
