For those of you with a Graco crib

We just bought the Graco Sarah in white and I love it, but I find it odd that there are no white caps to put over the bolt/nuts.  To me it makes the crib look unfinished.  Is there a safety reason why there are not any?  I dont think that LO would be able to reach around to the outside of the crib and pull one out if it is installed correctly.  Do other cribs not come with covers either?  Did you do anything to cover the metal or are you just dealing with it as is?

  • You could always get a small bottle of white touch up paint and just paint them white.

I was thinking of that, it is probably what I will end up doing.  I feel like I am being a bit silly though and I am probably the only one that notices it when I walk into the room.  Thanks!

  • I figured they don't give you caps b/c the small pieces would be a choking hazard. I told DH that and he rolled his eyes, but then he also asked me how to "fold down the front" of the crib, not knowing that drop-sides had been banned. He's got a lot of baby stuff to learn (-=

The exposed hardware bothered me a bit at first, but once I got everything else in the room it wasn't as noticeable (we have the Graco Stanton crib).

  • your newborn wouldn't be able to get them off, but my 11 year old would easily be able to reach around and remove caps if they had them. You'd be surprised!

I have a Graco Sarah and never notice the exposed hardware.

  • You won't notice it after a while.  It is probably safety, while baby won't be able to reach them when it's in the crib, once your LO starts crawling/walking, they will definitely be able to reach when outside the crib and could choke.  I agree with PP, use some white nail polish or paint to touch up, you'll be the only one that ever notices.
