My doula is awesome!
I hired my doula back in January. She's great and makes me and my husband comfortable. I found out about 2 weeks ago my baby is breech. We've worked together on different stretches and methods to get baby to flip. Still no flipping happening. After getting a lot of information, my husband and I decided not to deliver breech, but to have a scheduled cesarean birth.
Our doula has been very helpful and worked with me on local support and writting a cesarean birth plan.
One thing the OB was weary of was the delay of clamping the cord. So at our last visit today, my doula suggested we pull the religion card! My husband is Jewish (but he's Jewish, like the Olive Garden is Italian). Not practicing at all. She said that we should request that he recite a Shema prayer after she's born, but before they cut the cord. Just so we can get a minute or two of the pulsing cord.
Tricky lady! Funny enough, he's so on board, he's going to learn it in Hebrew.
Re: That's one tricky Doula!
Here is the Shema prayer phonetically if you'd like.
Shema Yisrael Adonai elohanu, Adonai echad
Baruckh sheim k'vod malchuto l'olam va'ed (this part is said softly)
We're also using a doula and LOVE her! If you can, I recommend finding one that does some adoula work. When I started having some pre-term labor symptoms, our doula was incredible at helping my body take the time to relax and realize it wasn't time. Now that the baby is almost full-term, she's helping both body and baby to realize it's TIME! Mama is SORE! Again, I'd completely recommend getting one. Love, love, love ours.
