Um...boundries

I ran and errand at lunch today at the mall and this woman comes out of no where and is like "getting pretty close, huh?"

Now explain to me how that is any of your business.

Why do people feel the need to say something anything to someone who is pregnant.

I am so tired of getting the same questions and the same dumb advice (you life is going to change...well duh I was there when it happend and have been carrying around this child inside me for 40 weeks).

I know I will still have to deal with this once he is born, but at least the attention will not be on me and be on him.

1 more week...I CANNOT WAIT!!

Re: Um...boundries

  • I had one of those while in labor on Friday.  Walking from hospital to Dr's office, I'm walking slowly and woman walking towards us says "name?..." I just look at her and said "we're going to let them help us pick their names."  She looks at me and says "spoken like a first time mom...", I look at my husband and we both are like ok, whatever lady.  Then she says "THEY? Got greedy did you??"..... I straight faced looked at her and said "Yep, sure did!"  Kept right on walking past her.

Mind you we had IVF after 4.5 years of trying everything under the sun and back to get pregnant on our own.  I -worked- for these girls!  Darn right I'm greedy, they are here and perfect!

  • Meh, people are just trying to be friendly. I don't get annoyed at the people so much, but I do know my tolerance for the comments is at an all new low. I'm having a serious pity party day today and the last thing I wanted to do was take DS to school and face the stares and questions. I even had one woman touch my stomach....which *might* have been the first time in all 3 pregnancies that a stranger crossed that boundary....

  • I like when people ask me when Im due- I get a pity party buddy everytime I say 3 days ago.

But yeah, I can totally see how its annoying. Half the people I know are totally shocked I havent had the baby yet because he was DUE! Well- yeah- but its not like its legal contract between you and your baby that he'll be here on that day.

  • I'm off work now waiting for my induction Thursday, but that used to be a daily occurence while I was still working. I didn't mind my immediate coworkers who knew me asking, but if you hadn't talked to me in 2+ years I'd worked there, I was pissed. I also got the "How are you feeling" and "She'll come on her own schedule" comments. I miss when small talk with strangers was about the weather, not my uterus.

Two worst questions I've gotten from strangers:

"How much weight did you gain?"

    "Are you dialated yet?"

    Seriously people.

  • Dude, the comments.... are too much to handle.  I actually had a totally random woman in the Home Depot parking lot (who was also pregnant) approach me with sex tips last weekend.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?  I just wanted to buy some marigolds!

I cann't agree more!  This wasn't your business to talk about these topics before and it's not now!  My good friend refused to tell me this information with her pregnancies and now all the sudden she's an expert and thinks I should tell her every detail of mine.  I think not!

  • I really hate the "not much longer" comments. When you feel horrible and are dealing with physical issues, every day feels super long. Your definition of "not much longer" will never be short enough.

I think I just really hate the public at this point.  I dread going out, because everyone has something to say. I've gotten so many rude comments this pregnancy that it's affected my normally positive attitude. Even my DH has said, "I just want my happy woman back"

    That lady sounds EXTREMELY rude.

  • I hate to say it, but it just gets worse once the kid shows up.  Then people want to poke their face into your infant carrier and ask ten kinds of nosy questions.  How old? Name? Birthday? Your first? C section?  And it's even more annoying because instead of wanting to rub your belly, they want to have your baby grasp their finger or they're breathing their germs all over your kid's face.
