TTC After a Loss

Speaking of CD1. . . is there any point charting with IUI?

I have never charted before, only used OPKs (sporadically). If we're going to do a medicated IUI cycle as soon as we can start TTC (which is roughly the plan, clomid w/ Ovidrel) is there any point to charting temps, etc? If so, I could start charting this cycle to build some baselines. But not sure if there's a benefit or not. I will be monitored by my RE.

  • Nope no point. Some meds can even interfere with your temps. Plus its stressful enough, no need to add even more when the doctors are going to be doing all the work for you!

  • No point in doing it, however, I still 'partially charted' for my clomid cycles (start temping around CD 10 and stop around 4dpo) and used OPKs.  This cycle with injects, I only used OPKs because I have about 100.  With a medicated cycle, being monitored and having a trigger shot pinpoints O for you (in most cases- I've seen some women still not Oing with a trigger, but that seems to be a very small minority).

  • I didn't chart - but I did find it helpful to keep track of important dates.  I just entered them into the calender on my iphone.  Like CD1, monitoring appt, u/s, b/w, etc.  The RE is doing the majority of work for you in a medicated cycle, but I found mine still asked questions about CM and general questions at each appointment.

  • I charted for shyts and giggles - I wanted to see how different my chart looked for a medicated IUI cycle vs a normal chart.
