stalled labor 5cm 100%

I spent last night in l&d because I had thought my water broke. It in fact did not break yet, but while monitoring me they noticed my contractions (that I could not feel) were every 2 min apart and my cervix was dilating so they kept me.

I got to 5 cm, 100% effaced and at a +1 station and then just stopped, from 5am-130pm I had no change. They swept my membranes, but since I'm only 36w they didn't want to break my waters ( and I didn't want them to either). So, they sent me home.

I know I'm early, and I want my little guy to be as strong and healthy as possible, but I'm also disappointed that  my body just stopped and I had to waddle my giant self out of the hospital with no baby.

Anyone else ever had stalled labor? How long were you stalled for?

  • What a tease! I don't have any experience with that, but I can imagine how frustrating that would be.

  • I can't believe they sent you home so dilated. But think of the positive. When your labor resumes, you are halfway there already and it sounds like you had an easy time of the first half.

  • By 200% effaced I mean 100% :)

    He's such a stinker already!

  • Dude, that sounds like such a let down.  Although it is good your baby will cook a while longer-- what a roller coaster!

Good luck with the last month!  Take it easy!

  • I'm sure that was totally exhausting & disappointing, but look at it this way...keeping your baby in a few more days/weeks may have avoided a stay in the NICU.  Good luck, hang in there!

  • Update: Well, he is on his way... just needed one more day :) My water broke for real this a.m (my body pillow soaked it all up, gross, but at least I can throw it away!) and we are at the hospital progressing.

Can't wait to meet my little June Bug!
