3rd Trimester

Ameda Purely Yours Ultra

I went to Babies R Us and the woman who was helping me said that this was actually a better pump than the Medela.  Anyone had any experience with this one?

Re: Ameda Purely Yours Ultra

  • This is the one I am considering.  I had a medela for DD and it never worked for me.  I don't know if that is because I had a bad one or low supply or what, but I could pump for hours and get maybe an ounce.  So I am trying this one for the twins...

  • The Ameda is a closed system so there is less of a chance of milk getting in the motor. It is basically built for multiple users if you decide you want to sell it later. Plus it is much cheaper than the Medelas.
  • I got this one (a few years ago- and I am not sure it is the ultra) it worked great for me but I never used a medela so I can't compare-

  • had it for DD, plan to use it again- love it no complaints.

  • Our hospital sells this brand through LC department. They switched due to better function and warranty when I spoke to them about it
  • This is the one I'm planning to get too. One of the big selling points is that it's a closed system, so you can legally resell it later. That way, if for some reason pumping doesn't work for me, or I don't like this particular pump, I should be able to sell it easily.

  • I have that one and used it for 14 months with my last LO. I got mine on Amazon. I loved it. It was recommended by my lactation consultant.

It is a closed system pump so moisture/milk never goes into the tubing. It makes it super easy to keep clean and you can even sell them when you're done with them since they are a certified closed system pump. I rented a hospital grade pump before purchasing the Ameda, and I felt like the Ameda worked just as well as the $2000 hospital pump.

FYI, it fits the Medela bottles and you can buy extra parts (like the flanges, hygienikit, and other accessories that can wear out) on Amazon as well.

I came across this review that kind of explains what I mean about it being cleaner and easier to use.

  • I used this pump for my last LO and I like it soooooo much better that the medela pump I have (I have one for work and one for home). It is nice that you can put it in whatever bag you want and the pump motor part has bottle holders which is also really really helpful when you are pumping at work.

  • This is the pump that my sister's hospital recommended to her last year when she had her LO. She had no complaints and pretty much told me that this is what I needed to buy.

  • I've heard nothing but good things too, and it's the one I plan on getting. :)  I'm also planning to rent an Ameda hospital grade pump first (to make sure my milk actually comes in this time) and I can use the same accessories/kit with it once I buy it...giving me two sets. :)

  • Also the one i got. My LC recommended this one because its cheaper and just as efficent as the medela and it's a closed system so you don't have to worry about mold and cleaning the tubes as much.

According to Baby Bargains the Ameda Purely Yours is the same as the Lansinoh Double Electric Pump. Which made me excited since it's so much cheaper than a Medela...hoping it works!

The old Lansinoh, not the one that's currently being sold (Affinity model).
