Store brand formula

Does anyone buy store brand formula? We had to buy another can to keep at my parents house (they watch DS while we work). I noticed the walmart brand version of gerber goodstart gentle is basically two of the smaller containers for almost the same price.  I thought we would give it a try.

Re: Store brand formula

  • I use Target's gentle formula and it works just fine; we never used the name brand gentle to be able to compare it.  I buy one can for daycare and one for the house, and they last almost 2 weeks (6 oz bottles).  I'm thinking about using the Sam's club brand now; it's even cheaper.  I just have to convince H that all store brand is the same because he's leary about switching now that we found something that works.

  • We switch from Similac to Sams Club brand about 2 weeks ago. I had to convince DH that it basically the same since we was thinking anything not name brand would be crap. I think Bear is actually doing better on it than the Similac.

  • DD2 was on similac and we would buy the walmart brand when we got low.  My pedi even said they are all the same generic and name brand

Not all are exactly the same.  We use enfamil gentlease types.  We were buying the target off brand and had issues.  We switched to the wal mart offbrand and she does fine.  Our pedi told us that Target has formula made by a food company and Wal Mart has formula made by a Drug company.  Other stores also carry the food/drug company formulas but I just can't remember all that he said.

huh.  I had gone on the storebrandformula.com site and it lists Target, Walmart, and Sams (among others) as if PBM/Perrigo makes all 3.  I'll make sure I really check before we switch.

  • We're using the Sam's brand of Gentle formula and it seems to work fine.
  • PBM makes all of the store-brands.  We use it exclusively.
  • We use walmart brand enfamil and had no problems.
