I made an appointment with the pediatric urologist for the 15th but in the meantime the nurse told me to keep pulling back the excess skin and more than likely it will separate. So I've been pulling it back at every diaper change and all of a sudden I applied a little more pressure and it separated!!! Ds looked like he wasn't sure if he wanted to cry or laugh (because I let out a huge gasp) but I started singing Itsy Bitsy Spider and he began laughing. It's pretty red so I put on some neosporin. It seemed a little sore when I changed his diaper but I'm so glad he doesn't have to go to the urologist now. Just thought I'd update in case anyone is going through the same thing.

Re: F/U Circumcision Adhesion
TBH, I laughed too when I read this.
Just wondering, was it the way the circumcision was done that increases the chance of adhesion?
I think the secretion you're referring to is called smegma. It just a natural discharge that will collect under the foreskin. My ds hasn't had any of that, his problem was that the left over foreskin on the shaft attached itself to the head of his penis. My dr said now when they do circumcisions they do what's called a "loose" circumcision where some of the foreskin is left on the shaft. I guess there are more likely to have complications when all the foreskin is removed because the skin becomes too tight as the baby grows and it can cause the penis to pull to one side as an adult. So they leave a little extra and when they are full grown there is no extra skin because they grow into it. I don't know about this penis talk, that's what they explained to me. But I guess it's common (up until age 24 months) for that extra skin to adhere to the head so you have to make sure you push it all the way back on every diaper change. I wish they would have explained all that to me before it became a problem so I could have watched for it. It looks so red and raw like when he was first circumcised. My poor baby

FWIW, you don't clean anything or retract foreskin at all with an intact (uncircumsized) infant as that will lead to tearing & infections. You just wipe everything off the outside, easy-peasy.
