Britax Marathon owners?

Does anyone have the Britax Marathon (mine is older from 2008)---we currently use it for our 23 month old, but my question is does your 4 year old fit in it? DS is 42inches tall and 42lbs---we are going to my parents and his Frontier is just such a pain in the butt to install, and since we will be going back/forth from car to car.

Wondering if my 4 year old will fit---the Marathon is currently rear facing, so we will have to forward face it-to see if he will fit.

Re: Britax Marathon owners?

  • DD1 was in her Marathon at 4 (she doesn't weigh that much, but she's tall). The only reason we got her the Frontier is because the baby needed the Marathon. The Frontier is hard to install? We didn't really have problems with it. The Marathon was always a pita though.

  • My 4 year old outgrew it at shortly after 3. My almost 3 year old has maybe 4 months left before she outgrows it. That said, my kids have exceptionally long torsos so they outgrow seats long before average.

  • Yes, my four-year-old still uses her Marathon as her everyday car seat. I think she's about 40 inches, though, and skinny. She's got one more shoulder position before she maxes out on height, so I'd think that 42 inches would be okay, just barely. But it kind of depends on his seated shoulder height.

Our seat is from 2008 as well. She's been using it since she outgrew the infant seat. :)

  • Ours is from 2008 as well, and it will expire before DD outgrows it. She is about 39" and 33lbs, she has TONS of room left. In fact, she still fits rear-facing with about 2-2.5" above her head.

Yeah, DS can fit rearfacing, but not weight wise! I just checked! Thanks everyone. We moved it over!

Yes, it was a pain to install in my car and DH's truck. I guess the whole belt path and it is a heavy seat, hard to get a rock solid install for me and not being able to use the latch just kills me.

I'm more familiar installing the marathon, and I think my parents will probably be able to get it installed a little better than the frontier. Just easier for us I guess.

That is why DS uses the 2 Frontiers-DD took over his marathons.

  • My 5.5 yr old is still in her marathon.  She is 42 lbs and 42 inches.  We just had to move her to the last slot for her belt.  She still has quite a bit of room till shes at the top of the shell.

  • My DD is almost 5, 45lbs and 45" and she fits in it just fine.  Mine is older too - from 2008.

My friends' DD is 7yrs old (and normal size for her age) and she asks to sit in the marathon for long car trips.  Needless to say she fits fine too.

  • DD still fits in her marathon fine. She is currently about 38" tall and around 30 lbs.  (We also have a Boulevard in DH's car, and never have issues installing either one.)

  • DS is 4.5 and still rides in the Marathon (he is 42 inches and 35lbs).
