December 2011 Moms

One more toy post...

First off...I have my own toy question.

DS has always just wanted to go to his crib when he's ready for bedtime. Now, though tired, lots of screaming and rocking has taken over bedtime. I remember a few months back there being lots of rave over the FP Seahorse. Do you think this is something that's worth trying for us?
The Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes is our "Baby Crack" when we're out and about. It will shut DS up in no time when he gets upset in his car seat or stores. But I think it's too upbeat and the bright flashy colors just wake him up more.

And....I asked the 6-9 month board about what their LO's are liking to play with last week. I told them we were looking for more interactive toys since our LOs were a bit more mobile and sitting up (DS is so close!). Here's a few they suggested for right now and the months to come:

VTech Sit to Stand Learning Walking

Leap Frog Learn and Groove Musical Table  (without the legs for right now--attached later on)

Chicco Smart Driver

Parents Goody Goody Gumdrops

Some of them I thought DS was a bit too young for yet. But all mom's posted raved about their suggestions so I thought I'd pass them along.

Re: One more toy post...

  • Awesome, thanks.  We were at a friends this weekend and they had the VTECH sit to stand toy and lucas looooved it.  The front even comes off and you can put it on the floor for when they aren't standing yet.

My friend's 15 month old still LOVES his seahorse for naps and bedtime.

Calvin freaking LOVES his seahorse.  I think he likes having something he can look at while falling asleep.  Chewing on it is another popular activity.

  • I bought DS on after reading about it on here.  It took a week or two but he really likes it now.  He doesn't know how to get it to play music on his own yet, but every now and then kicks it or squishes it when he rolls over and will activate the music.  It is very soothing.
  • I definitely think the seahorse is worth trying. DD can't work it herself yet but she always turns her head to look at it in the crib and usually quiets down to listen. I lay her down awake and turn on both the seahorse and sleep sheep. She's usually out cold by the time the seahorse turns off!
