I had to be induced on May 29 at noon at 38w5d due to high BP and protein in my urine climbing. I was given a dose of Miso around noon, a pill they inserted up and onto my cervix to soften it. At this point I was only 1 cm and my cervix was still fairly posterior. I was not feeling good about being able to make it through this without pit, and consequently, pain meds.
The Miso did its job wonderfully. Over the next 12 hours I contracted regularly on my own. I didn't need any follow up induction methods and my body just took over! I was amazed and so relieved. I dilated to about a 4. Around 1 AM, after hours on the birthing ball, I decided to try and lie on my side in the bed and attempt to get some sleep. I had been in the bed for 5 minutes when my water broke!! All on its own!!!! I was in complete and total shock.
After my water broke, sh!t got real very fast. My contractions got CRAZY intense. 3 hours later, at 4 AM, they moved me to a delivery room and checked me. I was 6 cm. I told my nurse and DH I couldn't do it anymore. I was shaking with every ctx and trying so hard to breathe through them, but I was losing my zen and my focus. It just hurt so much. I asked my nurse for some IV meds, just something to take the edge off. I was still sitting on the edge of the bed because we had just arrived in this new room. As my nurse left to go get the IV meds I had another ctx and all of a sudden started screaming "she's coming out!!!" Out of nowhere, I HAD to push. My nurse ran back in the room, checked me, and sure enough, there my little girl was. I had dilated from a 6 to full 10 in about 5 minutes. As I SCREAMED through the ctxs my nurse assembled all the other nurses. My MW was at home on call as it was 4:30 AM. She ran across the street and made it just as I was pushing my little Ella out. It only took 5 pushes but it was the most intense thing I have ever experienced in my life.
She SHOT out and my MW had to juggle her to keep her from falling! She is a little bean at 6 pounds even, and came out wonderfully alert screaming and eyes wide open. BFing has been going very well from the second that we were skin on skin. It was the hardest, most intense thing I have ever done in my life, but seeing the wonderful effects it has already had on my daughter, I am so proud I was able to do it.
