I know I'm probably one of the only momma's on here who hasn't night-weaned yet, but I have finally had enough and decided to go for it. Last night Clara woke up NINE TIMES to nurse (usually its around 4, which is still more than I like) and we are nearly to 1 year old, so I think its about time we change things. We bed share and I'm not going to try to transition to the crib yet, maybe I will after our vacation but I don't see much point in doing it before we leave in 2 weeks. I should also add that Clara nurses to sleep and doesn't fall asleep any other way, so that will probably be our biggest challenge.
Any tips from momma's who have night weaned? How did you teach your baby to fall asleep without nursing? Did you do it in steps or stop nursing cold-turkey?
Thanks for any advice!
Re: Night weaning tips?
I haven't night weaned yet. She only wakes up once or twice though. I've been using the pantley pull off (from the no-cry sleep solution) for a while now and she nurses to sleep some of the time and other times she pulls off still awake and I put her in her crib and she rolls around for a few minutes and then falls asleep.
I know several people who've had success using dr. jay gordon's night weaning: https://drjaygordon.com/attachment/sleeppattern.html
Thanks! I'll take a look at that!
