What do you pack for meals at daycare. I am starting to transition LO into more table/finger foods but so far i have given her stuff as i cook it (pasta, chicken.grilledcheese ect.) I still pack yogurts and purees for daycare for now but for when shes off them not sure what different options you ladies bring for daycare
thanks
Re: for babies off the purees
Fortunately our DC provides food, so I only pack if its something I don't want her to eat. But, pretty much anything that you eat & feed her at home is what you can send. Leftovers are easiest. I'm trying to be good about saving a big spoonful from dinner each night to send for lunch, since I don't really want her eating chicken nuggets or other typical 'kid food' until she's old enough to demand it! Torn up pieces of deli meat & cheese also are good in a pinch, with some diced fruit or cooked veggies. I still send yogurts, applesauce and oatmeal some days - the teachers so far have been totally fine with needing to spoon feed her occasionally.
For breakfast, she gets toast with natural fruit spread or a waffle plus fruit. Usually a banana or strawberries.
For lunch, I send a meat and a veggie, like chicken and peas or taco meat and green beans. She also gets a 3rd serving of something like sweet potato, rice, fruit, or a few low-sodium Ritz crackers.
For a snack, I send yogurt melts and goldfish crackers or plain cereal like Cheerios.
ETA: This is pretty much what I've been sending since she's gotten off puress, which was at 10 months.
She eats what we eat!
If I don't have any leftovers to send her, I send grilled chicken, turkey, pork, etc with steamed veggies. The frozen bags of peas/carrots and the perfect size for finger food, but I also send lots of zucchinni, bell peppers, butternut squash, green beans, broccoli, pretty much anything. We also send wheat tortillas with cream cheese or hummus, or crackers or pita or something.
For breakfast we always do fruit + bread (frozen carrot pancakes, pumpkin pancakes, eggy french toast, regular toast with apple butter, etc).
For snack she still gets puffs and freeze dried fruit.
Do you have recipes for the freezable stuff? I'm going to try this out soon...
