I've never seen this name before.  Am I weird?

Re: How do you pronounce Chiara?

  • I'd pronounce it Kee-are-uh

ETA: slight emphasis on the "are"

I'm glad I'm not the only one!  I have a candidate coming in to interview tomorrow.  I don't want one of my first questions to be "and how do you pronounce your name?"

This. There's an actress named Chiara Zanni and that's how she pronounces it.

The only Chiara I know is Italian (born, raised, and still lives in Italy).

    Kate ~ 7/3/09 *** Connor ~ 11/11/10

    4 miscarriages: 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014

  • Typically, you'd roll the r...getting Key-ahdd-ah...but if you're not up to rolling your r's, key-ah-rah is fine.

  • Kee-are-ah.

It makes me think of Chiari malformation.

That's how I'd pronounce it. But its too similar to Chiari (which is an often terminal medical condition affecting the brain).

This, just 2 syllables, is a pretty common italian name meaning light (or the italian version of Clara if you wish)
