June 2012 Moms

last day! A little scared.......

Today is my last day of work and I will officially be a stay at home mom for at least the next year (or as long as I can stand it!) I have always worked, even when DS was born. But the school I work at is closing so I am taking the opportunity to stay home with DS and DD, even though DS will be in school full time. I have spent the past 3 years getting my Master's Degree (graduated last month!), working 50 hour weeks and doing all the household stuff. I'm tired! LOL

I can't wait for this much needed break!

  • Congrats!  Hope you enjoy the quiet time!  I am sure you will adjust to being a SAHM- you can always go back to work, but how lucky you get this time to spend with your LOs.

  • I hope the birth of your baby goes well in the near future.  Change is a little scary.  It can be a little crazy with two kids, especially if those two kids are crying at the same time or if they are going in different directions.

My son was put in daycare at 3 months.  And I really liked daycare, but it was expensive for the first year.  And you still have to provide formula in bottles, diapers, wipes, baby food, etc.  I think that is a good plan for you to stay home with your baby for the first year. It is easier for us now that my son is a toddler because it it less expensive and daycare now provides food that is included in the cost.  And I also feel like my son benefits from being around other toddlers and "learning how to share" (we are still working on this).

  • Enjoy your time at home with your LOs! I'm sure it will be a major adjustment for you but you can always go back to work later if it's not for you. I plan to SAH for a year & see how it goes. :)

    Also congrats on your graduation!

  • I'm in the same boat!  I just earned my masters two weeks ago, and Wednesday is my last day teaching.  For me, the most exciting part is being able to do things whenever I want.  DSIL mentioned we should go to the beach in September.  I turned her down until I realized that, for the first time since I was 4, I have off in September.

  • Congrats!  I'm hoping to do the same thing- go back to work with this one but stay home after the second for a few years.
