Baby Yogurt vs. Adult Yogurt

I am too lazy to google.  Is there a real differnce?  I buy Yoplait for DH and Gerber Baby Yogurt for LO.  Can I just feed LO the Yoplait instead having to buy two diffent kinds???  I don't think DH would be too happy if I started feeding him baby Yogurt instead.

Re: Baby Yogurt vs. Adult Yogurt

  • I don't buy baby-specific yogurts. I've always eaten the Stonyfield organics brand, but I do get DD her own tub of it now because I use the nonfat kind and I get the whole fat kind for her. The plain version doesn't have any sugar added, which is why I like it. It tastes great with fruit added. I actually noticed that the Yo Baby yogurt has sugar added and that's not at all necessary.

  • The difference is the fat content.  Baby yogurt is full-fat, adult yogurt is low or no fat.  Like PP, I buy a big tub of plain organic whole milk yogurt (either Stonyfield or Trader Joe's if I get to go there) and just give it to her plain or use it to make smoothies.

  • I don't buy "baby" yogurt, but I do get whole fat yogurt for Lexi. I usually buy the Fage Total greek yogurt with the flavors in separate compartments. That way we can share and I can have the bites with the sweet flavors and she can have the boring plain stuff. I'm so mean!

  • I have never purchased baby yogurt.  I always get the Fage Greek yogurt and add a little bit of agave nectar and fruit so it doesn't taste like sour cream  That is how everyone in our family eats it.

  • I buy YoBaby by Stonyfield because it is organic. I have bought Gerber to keep in the diaper bad since it does not have to be refridgerated. The major difference is calcium content. Gerber is only 10% calcium while Yobaby is something like 25% calcium.

This exactly for us too! You get 32oz of yogurt in the big tub vs. 16oz when you buy the 4-pack of yobaby cartons. At my local grocery store, they are the same exact price. No contest!
