A fellow June mom-to-be sent me some YouTube links for acupressure points. She swears that her dad is an acupuncturist and it'll induce labor. Any thoughts on the effectiveness of acupressure?

I think accupuncture is going to be a lot more effective. I'm going on Thursday or Friday, so I'll let you know.
We followed all the Youtube videos for accupressure on my sister at 40weeks. It didn't work.
I think for most of these natural induction methods to work your body/brain/baby has to be ready. And since no one understands exactly what makes labor start, it's hard to say if they're really effective.
I put it all in the "can't possibily hurt" category.

Lurker here. Can you post the link to th video? My husband pushed the one on my hand today (between thumb and index finger), and I did get a contracton at that exact time. Who knows if that was why though, and I'm not in labor right now. The rest of the ones we found were for flipping the baby or bringing her down - useless for us since she's already head down and my cervix is soft, though not dilated.

I've been getting acupuncture and acupressure for 2 weeks now and the only thing it does is give me contractions for several hours that stop. I think it's like PP said, it only works if your body and baby are ready. I'm getting it again today and my EDD is tomorrow, so maybe today's the charm.
