Re: Poll: Bratty/Misbehaved Kids

  • I said 50/50.  But you probably notice the naughty ones more because they're making more noise, which makes you look.  IDK, just my thoughts.

  • I don't feel like I see more monsters than well behaved kids. But I DEFINITELY see more kids acting like little terrors (while their parents stand by and watch, doing absolutely nothing) than I think I should.

  • I agree completely, but I also notice nice children too, but that is just me.

I also can't stand it when a mom or dad has a totally bratty child and just ignores it and acts like the kid is cute.

  • I do compliment parents whose kids are really well behaved. They seem to appreciate it. :)

  • Me too Jasonswife because I know those parents are actually working at being good parents, not just letting their kids do whatever they want because they don't put effort into raising their children.  My dad's sister whose brats are now full grown were terrrible and I hated holidays with them because all I remember of my aunt and uncle is them yelling threats at the kids from their seats, they never got up and followed through with the threats, just yelled and the kids took that into adulthood and learned hey mom will just yell but never do a damn thing about it.  They are both bratty adults now.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying.  But sometimes you have to ignore their behavior because they are doing it for attention.  Wow, looks like I've watched a few too many episodes of Super Nanny.  LOL!

I agree, things that are negative or out of the norm for us will stick out more and we will remember them longer. ?

  • I totally agree with the the ladies who compliment well behaved children and their parents. I do the same thing and I have noticed that it really seems to lift a parent's spirit to see someone else appreciate good manners. I know when I would take my nephew out and about (he is now 12) and people would thank him when he opened doors, it made me feel proud of Colby and happy for my brother who was raising him on this own at that point. And it was good for Colby to see some positive reinforcement that being a good person does pay off. I think more kids might behave better if they knew that it was appreciated on some level. I see parents who scream at their kids so much that the children just finally shut them out and don't listen. A little positivity can go a long way but then again that is just one gal's opinion :)
  • I put 50/50, but the bad ones are REALLY bad. We have a local "I'm better than you" attitude problem in our county and though it mostly results in car accidents and road rage you often see it early on in the children. The scariest thing about these children is that when they are misbehaving their parents are usually nowhere to be found. If anyone were crazy enough to want these children they would be very easy to kidnap.
