XT from 3rd tri .. early labor... cont's changing... going insane! (long)

Ok ladies help me out here...

Friday at around 9PM I started having consistant contractions lasting about 10 minutes apart. They were uncomfortable but I could talk through them. I was up most of the night but tried to sleep as much as I could.

By 6 AM I lost more of my MP ( I've been losing pieces over the past week or so), and I thought okay so this is happening! I also had a great deal of pelvic and rectal pressure. Called my doc at 8AM contractions still 10 mins apart and they said not to worry and wait until they are 3-5 minutes before calling back to head to the hospital. Okay, great.

The morning went on and lost more mucus. All day I was having contractions feeling like a tightening of my bladder followed by tightening in my sides and backache. By the end of the day my back was really sore but there wasn't really an increase in intensity and started becoming irregular 8mins-12 mins apart.

We tried walking and some yoga stretches but nothing seemed to help. I layed down, walked around and it didn't stop nor did it increase them!

By 9PM I went to bed because I was just so tired.  I felt the contractions through the night (same kind) and woke up around 330ish this morning thinking perhaps they had stopped because the tightening was gone, but my back hurt worse and I was feeling nauseous.

I have been up since then tried walking up and down the stairs, laying down and any contraction I feel is irregular so I'm not timing right now. They now feel a but mor elike a sharp pain in my low abdomen right above my left pelvic bone  and cramping... but the backache is persistent.

I am almost on 36 hours of this and may go insane. Any advice? On thursday I was 60% effaced and 1 cm dialated.

Thanks ladies and thanks for reading! TIA!

  • I don't have any advice as I am a FTM and knock on wood have been fortunate enough not to have any contractions of false labor yet. I just wanted to reply and let you know I am sorry to hear this as you must be so tired from being uncomfortable so long. I hope they stop so you can relax finally or they turn into the real thing and you have you LO

  • Hang in there mama!!! That happened with my first baby... Sometimes our bodies just take forever to prepare for the baby... I know you don't want to hear this, but sometimes early labor can last days or weeks, but know that it is coming! Your only 36 weeks??? I would say hold off on doing anything to kick start labor until at least 37 weeks... Try and sleep as much as you can.... Take tylenol pm... I went in to the hospital 2 days before I had my first and they said it was early labor and sent me hom with ambien.... I was actually able to sleep all night through the pain with that; woke up the next day and was okay.... Then that night I went into active labor and had him... The only good thing about laboring steady and slow is that once you hit active labor you will go and probably go fast. I had him in 6 hours and he was my first baby... At 37 weeks have sex, take evening primrose oil orally and down there, walk everyday and night if you can, do squats.... I am almost 38 weeks and that is what I am doing to get this baby out!!! Just know that the 2nd or 3rd babies won't take as long.... I promise!!!!
  • Hi there! Thanks for responses. I am unsure if it was truly false labor since my symptoms fall.more into latent phase of labor... but hell if I know. That being said my doc wasn't concerned how early I am at all and told me they aren't doing anything to stop it... just wait. So here I am tired and bored. I realize things could change in an hour or in a few days or weeks... its just frustrating! Not tryjng to really induce... ok with waiting til im farther aling...The only thing ive done is walking to see if they increase or stop. Guess she is going to come when she wants anyway just wish I knew more... :)

  • Sounds like it might be prodromal labor.  I had it for a couple of weeks with DS (but sometimes it only lasts a few days).  It was maddening, but just keep in mind that your body is getting ready.  You will know when it's the real thing.  The contractions will become very uncomfortable, you won't be able to sleep through them.  They will be closer together.  You will have to stop what you are doing to concentrate on each one.  You may have bloody show, rather than just mucus.

Try to rest as much as you can, since you'll need energy for the real thing.

  • This is exactly what I've been feeling for the last 24 hours. They seem to have pretty much stopped for me which is a little disappointing but she will come when ready. Hopefully this just means that the active and pushing parts will be easier Wink
