So the bratty kids story made me think of this. Not because the kid was a brat just because.
DH and I were at Kohls about 6 months ago. We saw this little girl about 2 or 3 hiding in the clothes rack. I said to her, where is your mommy and she just giggled and went and hid somewhere else. Then I started asking people around, is this your little girl, she didn't belong to anyone. So I followed the girl while DH went to get an employee at Kohls. The little girl then took off and a worker at Kohls caught her. This girls mother was on the other side of the store shopping, didn't even seem to miss the girl. I was totally appalled, the mom kind of giggled about it like she didn't realize the girl was gone. It was a good 5 minutes or longer that the little girl was around me, who the heck doesn't realize their kid is missing. The mom was also about 17, so maybe she didn't really care. I think about that all the time though, what if someone had taken that little girl.
Re: My idiot mom at a store story
I have a huge fear of losing my child in a store. I have found unattended children in stores at least 4 times while working or shopping and helped them find an employee to call the parent over the intercom. I can't imagine what would happen if someone with bad intentions had found them, and I still can't figure out how parents lose track like that.
I do think there are just as many 40yo moms as 17yo moms who would brush that whole situation off just like the girl in your story tho. And I know a lot of young moms who take great care of their kids, but I do understand that there is something to be said for experience and responsibility.
ugh. This kind of stuff breaks my heart.?
Did she even tell you thank you? I mean, clearly she didn't understand the gravity of the situation to begin with, but without thinking I would have at least said thank you for finding my child and making sure she wasn't abducted or worse...
Ugh. People.
