Trying to Get Pregnant

How stressful is your job?

I'm just curious-on a scale of 1 to 10 how stressful would you say your job is and why??

I am feeling stressed to max capacity, and I think I just want to hear that I'm not alone! :(

  • I would say a 7 or 8. I am a funeral director and I arrange funerals for 6 different locations that we own. I am constantly running between chapels and making sure things are perfect for families during their time of need.

Funerals are similar to weddings with choosing a location, flowers, reception, merchandise etc, and you have 3-4 days to do this where as a wedding you have 12 months+... so It can get a little demanding.

  • Mine ranges from a 6-10.  Now, it's about a 9.  I feel like I really need a break.

Wow. I think that would be a really emotionally draining job, too, since you also deal with a good number of tragedies.

Pre-DD I varied between a 9 (when DH had just graduated and was unemployed, I was in school full-time and working 4 PT jobs) and a 6 (after DH got a job and I could quit 2 of my PT jobs). Post-DD my working life is probably a 3 on a stress scale because I've cut back a lot for a couple of reasons.

  • Anywhere from a 5 to a 10. I'm a school counselor. With meetings and guidance and seeing kids day to day it can get a little busy. However, I'm one of the first people pulled into a crisis situation so that can be extremely stressful. I love my job, but I never know what could happen on any given day.

  • I work in medical and mine really depends on the time of year. When school is out or the end of the year when people have met their deductibles, my job is about an 8...begining of the year, it's about a 2. Good thing I get paid for the 8 :)

  • I implement document imaging electronic medical record software in hospitals across the country, so I travel a lot (although I'm cutting waaaay back in a couple of months). Depending on the project and customer, it's between a 7 and 10.

  • Most days I would say about an 8-10.  I'm an elementary school social worker and I see and hear the worst of the worst.  I deal with parents who treat their kids worse than I treat my dog, and so it goes without saying that that is stressful and upsetting.  The last few years the most stressful part of my job has been with agencies (Children's Division and the Juvenile Office).  The red tape that I deal with on a daily basis with agencies is beyond stressful and aggravating.

Thank GOD I have my summers off......

  • mines ranges from a 2-10. i'm a paramedic so we have to go from sleeping to doing CPR in about 20 minutes. so we could be eating or something and we're not completely relaxed because we're always waiting for an alarm to go off. then when we're on a call, we're trying to save lives. and when we don't, it gets to be about a 10.

11! Lol. Social worker in APS.

Really it ranges depending on the case, but I work for the government and management/administration (and having the biggest sh!thead moron twatwaffle as a boss) makes it twice as bad. Without that it would probably be an 8.

  • I would say it depends on the day. Lately? About a 15.

You paramedics are crazy! My head would explode from the stress! lol

Mine is on the high scale, but varies, depending on the day, I guess. I work in a prison with Violent Offenders. Right now I'm running a violence prevention program, which I'm almost done. I hate report writing, but it's a nice change . This group has been particularily stressful because they challenge everything, are unmotivated to change and they figured out things that make me angry and then do them on purpose. I cannot wait to be done with this group. My next group is Family Violence Prevention.....

  • It depends on the day or minute really.  I work as a pharmacist in a hospital and I'm always one phone call away from stress.

This weekend, I'm covering the ICU's and OR's.  At the moment it's a level 2, bc nothing is going on **knocks on forehead** (no wood here)  But that can all change if someone starts coding or gets lifeflighted in or comes in the er & needs emergency surgery.

I also work in retail PRN, which can be very stressful but always entertaining.  The sh!t people say/do and act in a public place is astounding.

  • With my last job, I would have said mine was consistently a 9-10 - I was a litigation attorney.  I have since gone in house and while my job remains stressful, it is much less so (and much more interesting to boot!).  I would give it a 6-8 most days now.

  • Most days, probably a 3-4.  I'm just a bank teller (also going to school) and it is sometimes frustrating dealing with the people.  The most stressful thing about it is the girls I work with.  There are 5 of us ranging from 26-29 and a few have become buddies so there is so much drama it's crazy..I just show up, work, then try to leave without saying much.
  • My former job was consistantly at about a 12, which is why I quit. It was making me physically sick....having migraines with vomiting about 3 times a week, and it wasn't worth it.  I was managing the flagship affiliate of a worldwide nonprofit.  FWIW, it was a poorly run organization, which made it worse than it would have been if it was well run.

Now, I am a SAHW and am job searching, but I still give it about a 4-5. Job searching is exhausting (emotionally).  I do all of our financials/bills, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, dog-walking, and driving DH to and from work, so I am still busy.

  • I have drastically changed my stressful job. I was in insurance at a busy big name office. There was always problems to fix, policies to write, payments, questions, claims, and changes. On top of that I also had to meet sales goals and marketing goals. So I got out of that. I tried going back to my precollege job as a forklift operator, but I went to a car manufacturing plant and I was put on the door line. It ran seperate and faster than the main line. I had more parts than the other drivers. I was so stressed about keeping the line running and I had to use my body to put the parts on the line once I got them to the line with the lift. (That's how I lost most of my weight) So now I work at the school district. I am training to be a manager for the custodial and groundskeeping division. This job is probably a 4-5.

It's not that bad. Don't get me wrong, we do have some pretty stressful situations, but a lot of what we do isn't that bad.

  • About a 3. I own my own business making 100% natural skincare (soaps, lotions, shampoos, bath stuff, baby stuff, perfumes, etc...) Money is the only thing that stresses me out about it. I LOVE what I do. I often say I have the best job in the world, even more so when product research consists of taking a long hot bath Smile
  • Mine varies 5 - 8.  I work in a worker's comp clinic as an MA so it depends on who I am working for on that day.  If the doctor or nurse is crazy particular or seemingly impossible to please, my stress goes up.  If I'm working with someone easy the stress level is far less.  Management stresses me out more than patients - I haven't decided how I feel about that yet.
